SHOCKING! Posts where I mention Dr. Proctor, posts I don't!

Jacob, have you ever tried any of Proctor's products? Because Proxiphen has been working great for me since last February. What is your reasoning for thinking that it's ineffective?

    Recession, 31, advice?

I would very much recommend that you start on finasteride. It could potentially stop your hairloss for many years and you might even get regrowth on the hairline. Given your age, I would guess that your male pattern baldness isn't very aggressive, so finasteride may be all you need. You have a lot of hair for 31...

most embarrassing night of my life

Finasteride will raise estrogen and lower DHT, but it doesn't lower testosterone levels, it raises them.

    Proxiphen Works

Proxiphen was the only thing I changed in my regimen. It could be a coincidence that I am noticing much more hair shedding than I did while I was on Proxiphen. I can't know for sure, but it appears that it was helping maintain the frontal region where I applied it.

    Proxiphen Works

I have been using Proxiphen since late february of this year at the hairline and temple region. I have at least maintained, and never noticed any shedding. Due to financial trouble about a month ago, I became unable to spend the extra $107 that it costs for a vial. So I haven't used it in about...

    Zeroheat's Story-(Temple loss, Big 3, 962 days update pg37)

Re: Zeroheat's Story-(Temple loss, Big 3, Update pg 16) I'm curious as to why you have to wash it out before you go to work.

24 y/o, meds working, but I want off. Help please..

Taking finasteride with dutasteride isn't overkill, it's just redundant. Dutasteride is already taking care of 98-99% of type 2 5-a reductase. My advice would be to quit dutasteride and see if you feel any better with just finasteride. I don't think getting a transplant is a good idea if your...

    mature hairline??

Dr. Rassman is a firm believer that hair-loss doesn't occur until someone reaches an NW3. I think it's hogwash. There is something to be said for a "Mature hairline," but it has become an extremely overused word on these forums. I think a mature hairline is closer to a NW1, while the juvenile...

    21 and Receding

Minoxidil doesn't actually do anything to combat the balding process. It might give you a little bit of growth, but using it by itself isn't going to do anything against hair-loss as brutal as yours. In all honesty, Propecia is probably your only choice.

    impact of quitting finasteride

If person A quits after 5 years, by the 6th year, he should have a similar hair-count to person B. It is also important to mention that when quitting finasteride, it is a good idea to taper off slowly.

    Zeroheat's Story-(Temple loss, Big 3, 962 days update pg37)

Re: Zeroheat's Story-(Temple loss, Big 3, Update pg 12) You have to keep using minoxidil to maintain any benefits. Finasteride will not keep hairs that minoxidil grew. You don't have to use minoxidil for life, you can stop whenever you want. Upon quitting, your hair will end up in the same...

    Member's take on smoking

I have heard people say that smoking increases hair loss by constricting blood vessels, but personally, I don't buy it! :) Smoking is bad for you, and definitely won't help with hair loss. As to whether it exacerbates male pattern baldness, I would say that there's a possibility? I know what you mean! The...

    Mature Hairline or Balding? pics

No way Jose! Hair loss is determined by miniaturization, not where your hairline sits in vertical relation to your sideburns. Your dermatologist makes a gross oversimplification about hair loss with his little theory. You can see clear recession on the left temple in the first picture. I don't...

    Mature hairline or balding?

Really!?!? Never heard of it... Receding is normal, because most men develop male pattern baldness at some point in their life. Your hairline is well past the point of a mature hairline IMO. The pictures you posted aren't great, but I think it's still pretty easy to tell. It is a little harsh to say that you're...
