I would say you have two conditions going on at the same time. 1) male pattern baldness in the crown and throughout the top of your head and hairline 2) Alopecia Areata occurring centrally at the hairline. That recent loss you mention at the hairline is NOT male pattern baldness. I'd see a dermatologist!

That doesn't look like male pattern baldness at all. It looks like you have fairly equal thinning all over your head and quite aggressive for your age. You need a blood test. Go see a GP and possibly a dermo.

It looks exactly the same to me. Keep up with finasteride. You likely won't see results until AT LEAST 6 months use! It takes time for these treatments to kick in.
