Is this typical male pattern baldness?

Hi!
I'm only 36 years old and I feel my hair is thinning already at such a young age!!
My questions are
1.Is this typical male pattern baldness, or look a bit different?
2.What are the best options for me

A few notes to consider
1. I have lyme disease which can cause temporary hair loss
2. The bald spot I have in front is very recent and happened over night. I had there up til 1 month ago.
3. I was taking anti-depressents and stopped

1.Hair picture 1 . Me just out of the shower with wet hair slicked back taken just 1 month ago

WHAT CAN I DO??

I say yes its normal male pattern baldness as it almost always is. See a derm that specifically mentions hair loss or if its cheaper a doctor. They will know the options (atleast the derm will) and its a combo of propecia/rogain with propecia being the main weapon and rogain the little side pistol. Im not an expert on if lyme disease or other drugs could cause hair loss its something to talk to your doctor about, but if your male Id say odds are good its male pattern baldness
The sooner you do something if you decide to go that route the better. Time is not on your side because once hair miniaturizes too much its pretty much gone forever.

Did you look at the pictures, though? Why would my hair in front fall out in just 2 weeks? Doesn't male pattern baldness start at the temples gradually and form an M shape? Sudden hair loss, anyway. I hope its not too late!

I would say you have two conditions going on at the same time.

1) male pattern baldness in the crown and throughout the top of your head and hairline
2) Alopecia Areata occurring centrally at the hairline.

That recent loss you mention at the hairline is NOT male pattern baldness. I'd see a dermatologist!

Yes, I made an appointment. I won't be able to see them until next month. I am concerned because little red bumps are also appearing around the hairline as well. It seems irritated.

I would say its not your typical pattern. Diffuse thinning is more likely the diagnosis. From what? That is what you need to find out from a hair loss expert.

I looked at all these pictures of male pattern baldness online and mine doesn't seem to follow the pattern. I do realize each person is different. I have always had "mediocre hair" . I often wondered if some people just have naturally thinner hair than others because other than my front bald patch, my hair has been this way since I was a teenager. Never had thick great hair. Always thinner. I hope to start on treatment right away. I thought about hair transplant, but I just don't have that kind of money.

This doesn't look like male pattern baldness looks like alopecia areata. Circular and smooth and happened quickly as you said. Top looks like diffuse thinning, my advice consult a specialist.

Might want to look up alopecia icognita, someone here was diagnosed with it recently and his hairloss was very abnormal.

Its a weird thing, but my hair loss seems to come and go. This is my natural hairline. I could be wrong , but I don't think its a receding hairline as the one poster said. Granted, this picture was taken 2 years ago.

Gosh, that must be an absolute death sentence to notice that your hair may be starting to thin a little at the age of 36. I'm sure that my friend, who began receding at age 14 and reached NW7 at 21, would agree also.

I would advice staying away from diagnosing without being seen by a hair loss specialist. Many hair loss conditions look the same but are caused by different factors. To be certain what type of hair loss you are dealing with and what treatment if any can be used have a consult with a certified Trichologist.

Indeed. I have made an appointment already with the dermatologist that specializes in hair issues. Since my bald spot came on within a few weeks, I hope its not some kind of infection or mites buried into the scalp. Everything around it seems close to normal. My hair is thicker and fuller now than in the pictures posted.

I know its just awful. I never thought this would happen to me , and so young. I thought I would be at least 50 before I had to worry about it.

Baldness bites at any age. It turns young guys into broken, old men and old men into colicky babies.

Yes, but it bites far, far worse for men who go completely bald in their early 20s than for those who lose their hair slowly at a much later age.

I have to disagree. Age is a number, its not the person. People who lose hair young in life may feel that they wouldn't care if they lost it later. But you get to that age later and realize its just the same.

Not saying that being bald is a bad thing either. I just feel I am still too young to lose my hair. Pre-mature hairloss is before age 70, IM0.

I do know what you mean, Rudolphus. Nice of you to share. The plot to my origins as an male pattern baldness zombie reads like a cliché, I was 21 and scared to hell when the male pattern baldness grim reaper struck. A feeling I'll liken to a full blown case of chronic social rejection. Emotionally I was shot, yet surprisingly I still possessed an ability to problem solve(rationale). This offered me some solace. A bit of blind hope you might call it for a cure/promising treatment. Surely hair loss costs me a lot. I'm different now, but I am clearly no better. I'm still unsure of what "far worse feels" like. Maybe this is it and maybe I'm still in denial, My quality of hope for better hair tends to look mostly like an epithet on my epitaph. Had I began balding say at age 30 this would've meant my sense of youthful optimism + decent looks were extended almost a decade longer ( obviously was and remains a huge deal). This being my present reality I hold fast to a mindset that is reluctant to weigh another's level of adversity against their own experience. After all it's what is subjectively happening to us and us alone that makes each male pattern baldness case so damn frightfully personal. Really not so much age.

Might be a good idea to get your labs drawn to make sure there isn't an underlying condition that is causing the frontal hairloss
