Just came across your thread and went through the whole thing. Thanks a lot for keeping everyone updated, and as someone who has just recently noticed my crown thinning (although it already is pretty bad) I’m really happy to see you maintained. One thing I can say is that your last post shower pics look way better than your earlier ones. I think your crown looks better as well! It’s summer now and I’m worried about jumping in the water (I can’t stand the way my hair looks without toppik, and especially wet ugh) Do you go swimming? And do you keep your toppik in when you go?

Hi my man :) Cheers for giving it a read! Yeh I have definitely maintained either way haha.

Yehhh I go swimming but try and avoid getting my hair drenched, but with toppik you will be surprised, as long as you style it well and don't have too many big clumps of it (spread out evenly) it holds magnificently...Wow I should be sponsored by Toppik hahaha. I often don't wash my hair and just rinse for 4 days and the toppik is still there, apart from the crown it will need a slight topping up, but not much.

Have you got any pics to show me? Message me and can talk more, I know how sh*t it is with a thinning crown, makes you so anxious and seems silly but always thinking of it. Now that I can hide it I feel 10x confident as it looks so normal as well. Just hope I can maintain now forever or a long time at least ;)

Also a tip, sounds silly but if you ever feel like everyone is watching you and judging your hair, they are really not and probably don't even think twice about your hair unless they are balding themselves. This is what I kept telling myself, over and over otherwise you can get in such a sh*t state and all you think about is your balding hair.

Find solutions etc toppik, style it with some wax, maybe use some hairspray to stop the wind. I often put my sunglasses on my head to stop my fringe from flying away as get self confident but only in bad conditions :D

The pictures attached are recent holiday pics, so this is my hair now and as you can see it doesn't look bad at all, however some pics especially when the style gets lost, think pic 3 with my gf you can see it looks a bit shabby and maybe even see the toppik isn't quite as well as could do haha, on some days it is harder than others with time etc.

But good luck and will continue to update everyone.

P.S. Sorry for scary blacking out of face XD

Just another general update regarding finasteride.

So it has been over a year of usage and still taking 1mg daily. At first my penis felt like it wasn't the same and was a bit scared that it now does not work as well, regarding erections or feeling, however now I seem to have no issues with it at all, not sure if this is because I have a gf that turns me on all the time or because I am not thinking about finasteride/hair loss as much as when it first started?? Who knows.

Either way for people worried about hopping onto it, don't be... It has 100% maintained so far and stopped that shitty itch you get/shedding. Just grin and bear some teething phases at first, whilst your body adjusts either physically or mentally, personally I think this drug is mainly mental and people scaring you rather than it actually affecting you much physically. Just my theory.

I can easily hold an erection through sex and go multiple times. I know this is what scares most men.

Update:

So almost 2 years on finasteride! Wow how time has flown by ...

I personally am very happy with what I have and really feel finasteride has helped prevent early baldness thus far.

I started to thin at an early age of 18/19 and since then (23 now) have not lost anymore sifnificant hair, infact it looks better than ever with the combination of Toppik and styling.

More pics to show you and will do another update on the 2 year mark, and will do a proper comparison from 2 years ago.

Also thinking of starting Minoxidil later in the year and some other supplements maybe, however for now as long as finasteride maintains I am happy!

(I usually only wash my hair with shampoo twice a week) I feel this is so important as I used to be daily and feel this has thickened up my hair and also makes styling easier/saves money washing out Toppik and usinf shampoo.

Just a few more pics showing how I have my hair most of the time, this is with Toppik and unwashed with shampoo for 3 days.

As you can see the thinning is hardly visible, however I am concious whether it still looks odd with the recession, if you look front on, you can see the recession and it makes my hairline look high on one side as the other is covered mainly by longer hair styled to the side.

One of the images shows 2 of my friends with normal hairlines and it makes mine look really odd, but guess that is what I put up with aha.

Opinions and suggestions would be appreciated.

Will update again in the future.
Without a doubt minor improvement on the sides! This is wonderful

Looks like your scalp inflammation has calmed down a lot too. Only thing else I could recommend would be dermarolling.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Just a few more pics under slightly better/poor lighting.

I enjoy uploading pics as it really engages with you lot to see styles/lighting from different angles.

I need a haircut to shortem the sides and back, but quite like the length on top and front and want to keep growing it and see how it does with the contrast of neater sides and backs of the head.

I use toppik so that is why the crown looks really good and around the temples, but I so not cake it on otherwise it will look so fake, so leave a bit of thinning around the hairline for natural reasons.

Just a few more updated pics of my hair straight after washing (needs a cut) without any Toppik or hair product.

Obviously crown thinning is still thete, but not wordened since starting finasteride, atleast not that I can tell.

I have always had thin and fine hair which makes it look more obvious, but no doubt I am balding. Just greatfull for hair products :)

Just remember there are always solutions to hair loss and the most importany thing is confidence, whether you have to buzz it or keep using hair products EVERY single day :D

Another Update:

It has been over 3 years since I first posted on this forum... mad how time flies.

Good news is I still have all my hair, even though it is no where what I wanted at age 23. But what can you do - could be a lot worse I suppose.

I hope to hit 30 without any more significant loss, whilst still on Finasteride. Hopefully it can maintain and I don't suffer a huge shed or some horrible long term side effects kick in haha.

The most important things for me is not washing my hair too much, using the right shampoos as I get dandruff and itchy scalp if not, which doesn't help hair loss and finay getting a haircut regularly.

I know many suffer from lack of confidence getting it cut, showing your balding head in all its glory... I know I used to be so paranoid. However, I get it cut every 2-3 weeks as it grows really fast and the neater it is the less hairloss you can notice.

Anyway here are some pics of my current hair after a slight trim. I might get it shorter in the future.

Are you using toppik here?

A few more photos, this is my hair 4 weeks grown since the last photos, quickly shows that I need a haircut every 3 weeks otherwise it loses its shape and looks shoddy.

Very important advice is to GET A GOOD HAIRCUT and regularly!

What do you guys think of my hair like this, it covers my recession quite well but always worried it looks bad from the side and back and in wind will just be sh*t.

(Yes I have used some toppik)

Hey man, I’ve read through all the posts, I feel way much more confident in taking finasteride. But I think I’ll just get a buzz cut and hopefully my thinning isn’t that obvious. Balding/thinning in your early 20’s is the worst. It has put me through so much.. do you have any regrets taking finasteride? That being said, do you think it’s a little too late for me to get on it?

Hey man sorry for the ultra late reply! First time back on the forum for half a year.

I think defo start Finasteride if you still haven't already as you can use toppik for the thinning I reckon.

If nothing helps then im sure you would look fine with a buzz cut as you have it short anyway, not a dramatic change up.

I have honestly had no issues, maybe a bit more tired than usual but that could just be my job. I have 0 regrets as I started this forum 4 years ago and have not seen any dramtic thinning or reduction of hair - infact I think it looks better than I have ever had it since balding. :)

Hey guys just a little update.

Its been a while since I have been on this forum which obviously means something is working to increase my confidence!

I am coming up for 3 years on Finasteride and have never felt better about it.

Toppik + Finasteride has literally saved me for now and long may it continue. My aim is to get to 30 with somewhat majority of my hair then I can rest easy. :D

Just as a reminder of my routine, very very simple:

-1mg Finasteride (Daily)
-Toppik
-nizoral or Alpecine Shampoo once a week
-Hair wash with shampoo every 3/4 days

I know this is a very basic method and lots of you out there have regimes that include 10000 different products/potions that may or may not work - but I like to keep it simple and for me Finasteride is the only one that really matters.

Now for some pics. (With Toppik in and styled but not washed for 2 days)

*Sorry if looks greasy its due a wash

Cheers fellas - feel free to ask me anything.
