Why not try dutasteride ? Finasteride is obviously not strong enough.
And if doesn’t work add topical minoxidil. Don’t give up! Except if you think you can accept being bald, some guys are brave enough.

Its been 5 months how do I know its not strong enough?? Nooo I wont give up, my hair is bad but I have seen way worse and I can still get away with it at the moment.

I know but I wanted to try finasteride alone for a year, plus minoxidil seems so much hassle. Its been 5 months and I dont think it has good any worse, if you look at the previous pics the hairline is the same as it was in January and same with the crown. But, I swear I defo am thinner in the temple since finasteride, but still hair there as you can see. Potential regrowth? Also toppik covers it nicely

I know you keep saying that you want to wait a year for finasteride but I think minoxidil could really help your crown. It wouldn't be a hassle applying a bit of it in foam form, would take less than a minute.

So I am now 22 and was 20 when I started this thread... mad how quick time has gone.

Been on finasteride for 6 months now and have not lost much if any since starting finasteride.

I notice that my temples are very thin and will probably recede more but I will see what finasteride does and eventually add minoxidil when I can be bothered.

So just a few pics with semi wet hair and bright lighting to show the thin areas in all there glory.

The crown has defininitely not got any worse but think has stayed the same. No regroworth, maybe a bit thicker.

Your scalp still looks inflamed. I would find a solution, whether topically or internally through perilla leaves, turmeric, etc.
Other than that, awesome ground hold.

So I am feeling my hairline is getting quite thin now. Some people recede but have thick hair around, but I am receding and thinning around the hairline so in photos or light you can see these thinning frontal areas with little wispy hairs. My widows peak is thinning in a little circle and is bothers me.

I rhought finasteride prevents this or is it because I havent been adding minoxidil. I am scared that min will make it worse or that it is thin because the hair has shed.

But it has been 6 months and am unsure if I have seen any regrowth in the front or back

Any tips?

Your front area doesn't seem to have gotten much worse as for your grown I think minoxidil could reapply help you there

More photos of hair when wet, compared to hair when styled. I probably havr toppik in some of the photos (not the wet ones obvs).

Any thoughts on why one side has thinned out more than the other? Very annoying.

Hey man, I just went through your whole thread from when you first posted to now and it really helped me out a lot. I feel like I have about the same hairline as you did two years ago and your hair still looks pretty good now so that gives me a bit of encouragement. I wish you all the luck in the world dude

No problem dude, I like to keep this updated by spamming pics my hair hasnt changed too much in 2 years but its still thin as you have probably seen. Especially on the right side, so will probably be adding minoxidil to see if it helps!

it will be interesting to follow your finasteride journey .
I think that finasteride will unfortunately not reversed your miaturization ( you seem to be a poor responder like me )
But i hope for you it will maintain your hair

it would be sure that dutasteride would help you and minoxidil too

Your hairloss doesn't seem to have gotten much worse. Obviously when you hair's wet it can look bad but when it's dry it looks fine. Now you just need to add minoxidil

Just a quick opinion. This is what my hair looks like if I dont brush the side hair forward, I think it makes the temples more obvious but in a good way as it looks sharper and defines the hair on top.

Opinions on whether it looks noticeably balding or awful?

Your temples look better now. Doesn't look noticeable balding.

Ok so update on my journey. Quite a bit to discuss:

So 8 months in to finasteride now. My regime is simple and haven't added anythng since the start.

-1mg finasteride
-Nizoral

-Concealer (Toppik)

So that is it, not yet started Min and not added all these other weird stuff as I don't have the money and most of it seems very confusing. A lot of fancy shampoos and sh*t which seems like a scam or fraud.

I feel like my hair has not really changed much within 8 months, possibly a bit thicker and way less itchy. However, still thinning at the temples and have to use concealer to help it look ok sometimes.

The crown is what bothers me most and has not got worse luckily, but probably will in time.

Aa of about 2 weeks ago, I have had this sore nipple on my left side, I can feel like a bump slightly to the left of it and it gets sore occassionally. Not all the time, just every now and again. So will go to the docs, but hope its not gyno

Either way it is 2018 now and I am hoping for another strong year on this medication and will continue posting updates/pics. Will be interesting to compare in another year and actually see if it helps.

Here are some images of my hair when I styled it, without toppik this is what my crown looks like, so I need to always use concealer *sigh*

Ej fishcack:

What is your family situation about baldness?

My dad has a perfect crown, but is receding. Probably norwood 3. He has the same thin hair type as me but was much thicker than mine at my age. Although started receding in his 20s. My uncles 4 out of 5 have hair, only bits of baldness.

My grandad is rocking a comb over though and is probably mostly bald underneath. My other grandad on dads side had decent amount of hair.

Update:

Still taking finasteride everyday, and using concealer everyday as well.

I am still concerned about my hair, but kinda giving up on caring as much now as it just isn't worth stressing about...

Don't get me wrong, I still take a lot of photos of angles and freak out all the time looking at my hair but just kinda laugh now. LOL.

Anyway, I need to add minoxidil and no idea why I still haven't. Just more costs and effort, I am still pretty thin around the hairline and think that will never regrow, might save up for a transplant in the future to make it fuller or try minoxidil.

Crown is pretty much the same and concealer saves me.

Will continue to update, but feel like no one cares about my progression any more

Anyway here is an example of my thinning around the hairline.
