So its been 4 months and apart from feeling more tired than usual, the sides are not affecting me as far as I know.

I have a concern and it really is getting me down and worried.

My crown seems unchanged and the top, but the right temple which had started to thin when I started has turned awful. I have no idea how to style it now as it is so see through and thin.

Is it the finasteride working and I need to be patient or am I not responding. For me it feels awful and can only go out if I put Toppik on my crown and around hairline.

Sucks. Pleaaaaase need advice

P.S this is my hair at its worst when greasy and at night

I had pretty much the same slightly balding crown, and receding temples a couple of years ago. Minoxidil and finasteride for 1.5 years maybe slowed things down, but definitely not enough and the side effects just weren't worth it. I was taking a tonne of supplements as well but I just couldn't escape it.
Things continued from looking/feeling like it was pretty bad, to it being even worse, then every few months I felt like I really knew what worse was.

Is your dad bald? Are most of the guys in your family?
It's difficult to halt/prevent balding more than a bit if so, in my experience.

So what is your hair like now? Some days for me it seems ok and other days it is awful and cant look good.

Finasteride is meant to work for years though?? These celebs have it and it keeps it so surely it can for me and I still have enough.

I must say I am getting more comments about my hair loss which lowers my confidence even more

My dad has a perfecr crown and recession but is dark hair and not as see through, although same texture and hair type. My grandad is bald

at least you didnt get gyno with fina

How do you tell if you do? I think everything is normal apart from not as good ejaculations but still feels good enough

I am about to order more finasteride and have been on it now for 4.5 months... when do I know if it works or not. I swear it has just made me thin more and recess more.

It's better to treat hair loss when it can grow back, then when it's too late.

It takes around two years to get the maximum results.

Also, try adding five percent Minoxidil. Do NOT drop Finasteride though.

I'm in the later stage of life, and I really wish I took my hair loss seriously at your age.

Now, if there are side effects, you should check with a doctor about them. Better to know
than to find out if it's too late for that.

And if you don't care about baldness, there's nothing wrong with acceptance.

Got a fresh haircut again and she put wax in it to style. In the mirror it looks great I am happy.

However, get home look on selfie on phone and it looks sooo bad. Is this what people will see when looking at me??

Judge yourselves...

What I forgot to tell you is topical medications DO WORK on the hairline.

When I was twenty, I had a Norwood two hairline. It grew back on Minoxidil alone.

Finasteride also works on their.

In short, put Minoxidil on your hairline where the hair died, it will can/will grow back.

Don't stop Finasteride. That's doing more work. But the Minoxidil CAN grow back your hairline.

It just wasn't tested there.

What is Toppik, is that liquid Finasteride?

I need to start Minoxidil... but want to wait a year on finasteride first.

Toppik is a concealer. Works wonders!

---- OVER 4 MONTHS UPDATE ----

Sides are fine. Hair seems very similar just worried about the hairline thinning...

General question...

What am I on the norwood scale now and if anyone has followes this does my hair look a lot worse, similar or better?

Recent pics attached.

(The last 2 pics are what I hate the most from the angles. Makes me look awful)

Crown looks better, you hairline probably won't regrow that much, but the hairs within will thicken up. I have gotten good regrowth, but my hairline ain't lowering.

Some pics for anyone interested...

Most with flash under harsh lighting so hair loss at its worst.

Still taking finasteride every day and no idea if it is working or not really... some days it looks good and some not. Also depending when I get a haircut which I need now ffs!

Anyway here are the pics, would be nice to hear some responses or any styles to try for thinning. I wanted to focus more on the crown and side parting as near the temple it is reallyyyyy thin

Not sure why no one replies anymore... but I am in real need of help with the thinning temples. To me my recession is bad but still can look ok, but the thinning looks like it could be recovered. Is that possible?

Why not try dutasteride ? Finasteride is obviously not strong enough.
And if doesn’t work add topical minoxidil. Don’t give up! Except if you think you can accept being bald, some guys are brave enough.

I know but I wanted to try finasteride alone for a year, plus minoxidil seems so much hassle. Its been 5 months and I dont think it has good any worse, if you look at the previous pics the hairline is the same as it was in January and same with the crown. But, I swear I defo am thinner in the temple since finasteride, but still hair there as you can see. Potential regrowth? Also toppik covers it nicely
