on finasteride for 5 years.. switching to dutasteride or double dose of finasteride?

I have to disagree with this logic, based on my own experience. I'm baffled that this doctor wouldn't suggest that maybe the meds are losing their effectiveness as a result of the follicles genetic sensitivity to androgens over time. Therefore, increasing the dose and suppressing all the DHT in...

    Avodart image

I have a doctor's prescription, so I'm purchasing from a local pharmacy. The GX CE2 is a very faint grey color. However, if I recall correctly, the previous capsules had red lettering

    Peapoddy's Story - (25 : Just Starting Finasteride)

Peapoddy - Regarding getting a hair transplant..If my logic is correct, it's probably best to determine who's hair loss pattern in your family that you are following, or resembles. Since you're only 28, you wouldn't want to get your hairline restored only to recede further in years to come. Make...

    Dutasteride Success thread

Not when I initially started, but over the past year I've had heavy sheds on a couple of occasions. Right now for instance, I'm losing twice as much hair in the shower as I did before. If I recall correctly, back in March I had a bad shed for a couple of months. And now, probably around the...

    Dutasteride Success thread

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a 'success story', more like my experience with dutasteride. I've been taking Avodart for just over one year. I took finasteride for eleven months without achieving the results I was hoping for. My hair was still limp and flopping around in the wind, so I decided to...

    started Avodart (after 8months proscar)

I've been using Avodart for over 8 months now after 11 months on finasteride, without seeing any significant change. It's been a rollercoaster ride though. Scary sheds and nasty side effects. Currently my hair looks amazing, but I would suggest using this drug with caution.

    Androgen Receptors

Interesting...Would the next logical step then to add a topical such as, fluridil or RU?

    Androgen Receptors

Thanks for the input guys. This new info definitely concerns me and how I approach my regimen going forward. Hey Bryan - Why do you think that my accelerated thinning would not be attributed to the up regulation of androgen receptors? I understand that dutasteride reduces serum DHT by 90% and scalp DHT...

    Androgen Receptors

I've read a lot about specific drugs preventing DHT from binding to the androgen receptors in the scalp/hair follicle, but are there any known treatments that actually reduce the number of androgen receptors themselves?..And is it possible that the body may generate more receptors to compensate...

    Oral spironolactone?

I'm just not completely sold on vitamins being able to treat something like this. I've read about B vitamins and pro-biotics to reduce an oily scalp, but I never had any success with those. I think I would need something more powerful. I guess if I end up getting a script for this, or a script...

    Oral spironolactone?

Does anyone think this drug would be effective in suppressing over active sebaceous glands in the scalp? I'm curious to try this medication at a low dose to see if there would be any impact, but I'm also aware of the risks involved. Is there anyone here who has experimented with this orally?
