Just quoting Italian guys!

Si è parlato a lungo di equolo, ma di che equolo stiamo parlando? cercando tra i distributori come questo in link
https://www.scbt.com/scbt/product/s-equol-531-95-3

I run into a random blog-article, which talked about dht and hair loss and he also mentioned a lack of blood flow which lead to hairloss. It's just a guy speculating about hair loss but i found it very well writen and thought i'm going to share this one with you.

https://tophairlosstreatments.com/dht-hair-loss/

Also there was a very interessting quote from a study

"Mechanistically, the scalp behaves like a drum skin with tensioning muscles around the periphery. These muscle groups—the frontalis, occipitalis, and periauricular muscles and to a minor degree the temporalis—can create a “tight” scalp when chronically active. Because the blood supply to the scalp enters through the periphery, a reduction in blood flow would be most apparent at the distal ends of the vessels, specifically, the vertex and frontal peaks. […] Conceptually, Botox “loosens” the scalp, reducing pressure on the perforating vasculature, thereby increasing blood flow and oxygen concentration. […] Blood flow may therefore be a primary determinant in follicular health."

No, blood flow is not a factor at all. If that hypothesis was correct, it would make body hair fall out too. That doesn't happen though, people usually get more hair on their bodies as they get less on their head.

Care to cite your source? That's a pretty big claim to just blatantly throw out without a source to back it up. If it weren't true then why do people get results from minoxidil? It's a vasodilator and raises PGE1 which also is a vasodilator.

Hi kawnshawn

minoxidil don't act in hairloss due at vasodilator properties, .... more potent vasodilators were tested without result.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14996087
"A number of in vitro effects of minoxidil have been described in monocultures of various skin and hair follicle cell types including stimulation of cell proliferation, inhibition of collagen synthesis, and stimulation of vascular endothelial growth factor and prostaglandin synthesis"

or even with androgen receptors, a 2014 study
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24742982
Minoxidil may suppress androgen receptor-related functions

It is more complex than blood flow.

Why would it then work for body/facial hair? Surely if it suppressed androgen receptors somehow it would actually inhibit growth of facial hair?

Since doing minoxidil on scalp--even where i had laser hair removal (between brow upper lip) i see some follicles coming back WHICH i don't get because follicle is 'destroyed' by laser..i don't want to mislead its not a ton and it's not super coarse...but it's interesting from science perspective of a destroyed follicle. (its also annoying because i have to go get a touch up but better to have hair on head)
Also my hairline 'lowered' a tiny bit..i have these thick coarse hairs growing on hair line just below where it was initially. and they are growing long they are like 3 inches so far. (started minoxidil in November)

Laser hair removal is not permanent and it doesn't destroy all follicles. Maybe minoxidil did speed up the process but most uf them would come back anyway.

I have been doing it for almost 15 years so its kind of a huge coincidence that it comes back with minoxidil

The thing about Minoxidil is that it does grow hair and we're not quite sure why. Logically, if a superior method of using it was discovered, one could see very good results.

Which is why I don't get why people are saying they will be disappointed if Follica uses Minoxidil as one of their compounds; you're literally saying that you're disappointed they're using a proven ingredient.

I don't remember which thread, but there is a guy on here who was NW5 and went back to nearly 1 over the years with dermarolling and minoxidil. It is mindblowing.

I'd definitely say we haven't seen the full potential vasodilators might have in treating hairloss.

From my personal anecdotal evidence: Dermarolling + minoxidil has grown back terminal hairs in gnarly places (Widows peak filling in that I used to have when I was 16)...which is like 2 inches lower than the rest of my hairline.. I know so frustrating.

Too bad it doesn't all fill out.

you have to admit its odd in 20 years we still can only guess at how minoxidil works, and that no one has found anything else that can really replicate that or improve on it. If we knew why maybe a better minoxidil could be developed its still easily the best regrowth treatment we have

Actually they have replicated it. Minoxidil upregulates adenosine. You can get it from Shiseido under the name Adenogen, and it gives the same results as minoxidil. Adenosine upregulates VEGF and other growth factors. If you block the adenosine receptor, minoxidil does not increase VEGF. Histogen is going to improve on both of these drugs by injecting the upregulated growth factors themselves.
