Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo Therapeutic Extra Strength Review

1620518045621.png

I rarely wash my hair anymore but I was mowing the lawn earlier so I am using this opportunity to write a review while it remains in my hair. After 15 minutes, I will lather it up. Like many folks, I am not sure that I have inflammation but my scalp has been tingly after micro-needling the other night so this is a good opportunity. Also, I can't stop brushing my hair and I am probably over-doing the brushing in the short-run but in the long-run, brushing is very healthy for healthy hair.

My initial impressions are that it smells medicine-y. It sort of feels good but there is not quite the tingle of Selsun Blue and I enjoy Selsun's tingle. It says on the bottle : controls redness, intense itching and flaking of severe scalp conditions: Starts working after just one use--dandruff, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis.

This version is coal-based and says coal tar 1 percent is the active ingredient. The directions say to leave it on for "a few minutes", lather, rinse, repeat. I would think ten minutes and only one lathering would be sufficient.

It feels nice. A bit tingly but not overwhelmingly so. Because shampoos in general are too harsh for my hair now and strip it bare, when I do wash, it's best to do it at night so I have eight hours to restore my sebum levels. I have found a trick though that seems to really help. Next, without rinsing it out, I am going to apply castor oil to my entire scalp and maybe wait an hour. Then I use the bathtub to rinse both out because castor oil is especially sticky compared to say, Wesson oil.

For MtF's, Wesson Oil all over might be absorbed and maybe add a tiny bit of fat to one's figure.

Anyway, you need several sustained dunks underwater to get all of it out of the hair but the last time I used it this way with T/Gel, my hair looked really nice from the castor oil. When I remember, I take a tiny bit orally but eh, it's very easy to take too much and have gastric unrest. I am going to do a bit more research on the benefits of coal versus zinc and sulfur as I try these different ones out. I will also try this formula out with just one application as a "daily shampoo" to see if it strips my hair bare but I am pretty certain that it would, without the castor oil. The amazing thing in a female context is that sebum is now my friend and coats the shafts and is actually self-cleaning with a boar bristle hairbrush.

I will revisit this and add anything further that I discover and then consolidate the different brands into one global review to make it easier to find. Some times, I use material over when pertinent so people don't have to wade through 54 pages of writing that usually fills the entire page.

Obviously, there are multiple strengths and "improved" versions of ketoconazole, and many of the popular brands as well as creams. I will try to pick the ones most seen on the pharmacy shelves and except for keto, which I have a prescription for and it is covered by insurance, I will be using non-prescription versions. I am looking to learn here along with others, hopefully, because inflammation is the hot new thing that people discuss along with both male pattern baldness and benevolent shedding.

He kind of has a comb over. I have hair just like him but I don't like that bowl cut look. He would look sharper with a better hair style. But very good video.

You style it quite similarly to be fair. Is he wearing a wig? Always a danger with a combover style or perhaps he has receded so has gone for this option. I only watched a minute of the video, seems like a person who is genuinely helping others with hair loss and offering info freely. If I was you DH I would shave the sides at least to a cm and do a side parting/semi slick and leave some greys as opposed to a solid colour at your age, looks more youthful and cool!

Bob Odenkirk really makes both shows along with Jonathan Banks. I found some of the rest of Breaking Bad not particularly realistic. Of course, I have been staring at his hairline for years now, trying to figure whether it is stabilized or if they make him more bald for the role. When he is in Omaha and in B/W, he is much balder. Saul Goodman is one of the best lawyers, ever, in my opinion, in terms of portraying the sleazy low-life lawyers still out there willing to do pretty much anything for a payday. Even his clothes are perfect. Once you get beaten down by the system and how appalling it is, well, I tended to dress less and less well and my hair certainly had something to do with that. I used to be a real clotheshorse but then you figure, eh, what difference does it make. We plea bargain everybody anyway so burn-out comes early for public defenders like him, at least initially, he was representing the indigent.

Some times, like he, he looks close to attractive but other times, people like us with hair like that, you end up disheveled every time you go in and out of the courthouse.

I know a little bit about your story and how you're regrowing hair, wish you luck. Have you seen much progress with the hairline? Even on such a regimen it's often very hard to get it back to a Norwood 1 without surgery but the rest of the hair often returns with good density. I'm not sure how close Bridge got to it but he certainly regrew everything except perhaps the temples.

I understand your pov concerning "Saul Goodman," my gf watched the show a lot and loved his role but she called him baldy too, in a matter of fact way. I think when it's such an elaborate combover from the middle of his scalp and on top of that he always had a vertical face/long forehead, it would accentuate balding and make him look messy especially as an older man with average soft features. I notice when girls like an older man it tends to be the Frank Grillo type where the hair/looks/masculinity trumps aging. Jonathan Banks was legit badass with the facial hair and shaved head, looked way more deadly and dominant. But again, I am a man. If I ask different girls, most will not like him in either case for different reasons.

I had a receding hairline prior to my surgery (rest of my hair was and still is thick/dark which was the irony) so I know what you mean about the impact it can have. With that hairline no matter how I styled it those few years or what I wore, I wasn't at my best. Now my haircut is sharp, everything feels better and I can take more pride in my appearance and pics on social media. In my 30s and looking like my mid 20s, hair helps with that. My forehead is 5.5-6cm in mature position, how about yours? I guess you will want to close your temples entirely for a feminine hairline and possibly a 5cm hairline if possible. My juve line was 2 1/2 fingers lol.

I knew that when I posted it but I try to at least push it up some but I know he does not have a high forehead like me and he has a better head shape. If I had his head shape I would just push it up.

Well I think something is up with his hair to opt for that as a youngish lad or he has no sense of normality/fashion. I think probably heightened hairline anxiety is the reason for him. I've never seen your forehead or hairline but maybe it's not as bad as you think. You really should share it with some people as it could just be BDD and if that's the case it's a liberating feeling not needing to have a combover. Not only that but even with minor loss, a slicked look is way more stylish, confident etc, no one cares for minor loss but odd styles stand out more like this lad. High foreheads/vertical faces can look just fine unless it's very exaggerated in which case I would understand your approach. Your density throughout is good enough especially for your age so that is a non issue!

Reminds me of this Doctor's hairstyle too, someone had brought up his ACell crap to me once which is why it stuck with me. I noticed in the comments he was asked if he wore a toupee, what do you think since I know you spend some time in that section? At one point a user complemented his hair and it had many likes, the Doctor said thank you lol.

LOL, I don't wear my bangs down to my eye brows. Here is an example close to my hair style. That is not me just incase anyone gets confused. @JaneyElizabeth what do you think?

Wasn't comparing your hairstyle to the Doctor's I linked in, rather the Doctor's to Rob or whatever his name is. But again I don't see yours as too different as I said before, it's still a relatively long comb down from higher up and with the thick sides pushed in to create a hairline. I'm not hating at all, how you style or anyone is up to them, just saying yours is quite similar overall imo from what you showed me!

I am a bit worried about pausing in the temples but I am now at six months of oral minoxidil so this is when theoretically new hairs proceed but I was also improving a lot under HRT. Some things take more time when you are in a female context so I need at least a year to get it to shoulder length. Right now, my male fringe hair is getting pretty long but since I still have some tight curls, it shrinks by a couple of inches as it dries. In another month or two the weight of the hair itself will make it look longer. I see a huge amount of regrowth in the center of the hairline and it is coming in very low. I looked today because someone PM'd me a similar question. For the first time ever, I see lots of tiny white hairs barely long enough to see but I know it is coming, lol and not going because it is new. That hair could take another year or even 18 months so part of the HRT issue perhaps without so many having lack of success has to do with MtF's basically staying on HRT while others give up after a year.

It took me at least six years of messing around with estrogen and then reading Bridge's stuff so I pushed pregnancy levels for 10 months just like a cis-gay and now my target is 300pg/ml but we honestly don't know how high is needed. I do know that my average T the last year has been 8pmol which is tiny and that's with my using dutasteride which raises T levels some.

Yes. So if I wear the wig, everyone treats me as female but if I don't then I get male pronouns so along with makeup, hair quality and length make a huge difference and we sort of know that from the movies where men put on wigs to look more female and so even from a distance, it makes a big difference. Not one of my best answers but Janey is exhausted from mowing only part of the lawn.

I think Rob's hair looks fine and I think that he is an attractive man. Bangs are often used with systems and formerly after transplants because the hairlines 30 years ago didn't look natural so I think those things make us pause. But wearing bangs for people seeking regrowth is exactly what you want. If you can wear bangs and not need a wide part to make your hair look thicker, I think certainly for guys that is as good as it gets because you guys are still fighting the anagen/refusal to grow past a certain stage without looking crappy. So in my older pics, I try to wear my hair long and it looks like a hobo; it just looked crappy and now it is looking better and better long. My growth at the hairline is really good and I predict my teenage hairline in terms of how low.

I sort of feel like I think that Bridge felt. Yes, you want it to hurry and the temples come last but I feel as though success is inevitable which usually would be bad karma but I swear to Goddess that She is sponsoring me. I was "told" that HRT would restore my hair, looks and personality and pretty much Janey has my 17 year old personality and is much more outgoing and friendly. Looks, not just hair but over all impression along with knowing how to dress makes a huge difference is success and wanting to leave the house. All of this has saved my life because I had been sinking fast before.

I do think that envisioning the Goddess can help a lot of us get past, "oh God, why do you hate me?" She wants good hair for me and the conceptual alter-ego of hers didn't.

I appreciate all of the interest and comments. People keep coming over from Reddit MtF boards and I thank all of your gals.

Janey's Turn: Continuing with my tradition of being completely coquetteish:

Some folks have asked me to post as many pics of my hair and figure transformation and it has all of the dates. I will show any aspects but probably not like taint. So no real coherence but I can't believe how the Goddess has changed me in just three years or so.

I hope people benefit from these and maybe enjoy them too.

Well, maybe about half of us found a way around that. The pills are best if you can get a prescription and they aren't very expensive but our way is almost free. You get a metric dropper and you want topical but not foam. And you calibrate metric ml to grams of Loniten. So I take 25ml twice a day which equals 25 grams Loniten, which is too much for most people but you can use a fourth of that and 6.25mg once daily starting out is for most guys/MtF's a perfect dose. I haven't used Loniten but we are pretty sure this works the same. I saw guys on Tressless talking about "drinking minoxidil" which seemed hilarious but really, it is more so drizzling minoxidil down one's throat. Topical is about six bucks a bottle on Amazon and probably three bottles is more than enough to last a year, so excellent price-wise and easy to get. My vendor in Thailand doesn't even offer oral min.

Janey
I had serious itchy scalp problem for months and took your posted advice on using selsun blue and left in on for about 5 mins, less itchy

so good advice and thanks

Those weren't coquettish. Hmm: Trying to give an idea about the breast growth and hair loss and everything is dated and so I have some big bouncers. Still not the rights ones. Enjoy. In some of these you, I mean I am magic. Watch me work it, I's perfect.

Well. And I was all dolled up nice for everybody but these are the pics that got uploaded instead. I did finally post the other ones but they have been yanked being exclusive content and all<winks>

If you miss a day of my content, you might miss out on some stuff since I have to drive interest and all....

My "personal" pics only stay up a couple of days unless I neglect to spot them and eh, since I am an XY, I just don't mind letting people see what the hormonal effects on hair and breasts look like literally at every stage of using HRT for both beauty and hair loss since I started out DIY like most of you all with hormonal reductase inhibitors and I say DIY even for most doctors since they write a script and then forget about you for a year and often know less than we obsessive hair folks do just from spending one day on here or reading the wikipedia entries.

Facially, I have never had any complaints lol, either as an MtF or an XY until dermatitis started eating me alive at about the age of hmm, 48, right when I started DIY with otc menopausal meds from Amazon, like Life Flo Biestro and yes, they can work but you have to use sh*t loads and apply it all of the time and you still might grow breasts but you don't need a prescription and you can just tell your wife that it's face cream for your dermatitis which worked fine until she came home and found you doing housework in a little French maid outfit.

You know, just working gender frustrations out a bit but I digress with tongue in cheek here as I love satire and good stories.

So what actually happened was that I was actually sitting on my *** eating bon bons and drinking champagne while wearing a French maid outfit with black ruffled panties when she suddenly walked in "early" from work and believe it or not, she didn't just fall into my arms lovingly and adorably. Two weeks later, I ended up moving out and I haven't seen her since so nobody should take any life advice from me except about how to be adorable and desired by both sexes as I am "shiny and improved now" in the words of one of my favorite readers and oh, also about how to grow back your hair....

No, she didn't divorce me because of my gender dysphoria; she was fine with that but told me rather that given my poor work ethic as a maid, that she just couldn't keep me on staff any longer and that was one sweet gig, sigh.

Anyway, I would never have posted these pics showing me at more or less my nadir looks-wise on here without the blessings of Goddess above and the new and more complete and attractive person that She has help me to find, develop and be.

Janey

Who else but Janey would show all or at least mostly all, without reserve. But where are the coquettish ones? Hmm.

This is how I looked when just about to start formal HRT. I actually look decent here so that means that I had been using tons of Life Flo Biestro:

This is what a failed transplant looks like. I had no idea at the time that I looked this bald. You can see acne and lots of circular grafts but not much hair coming out of them. HRT plus microneedling and maybe oral min have filled in the entire area to where the grafts blend in nicely and are all productive:
