Going Bald In Less Than A Year, Need Advice

Ha thanks all. I have definitely moved on to age appropriate women, can’t say I still don’t enjoy the attention. I’m in better shape now than I was in my twenties playing college sports to be honest.

I concede a lot could be age related diffusing but there was really no gradual progress. I still can’t accept that losing 300-400 hairs every single time I shower is only age related.

Over two years on some version of Finasteride and 3 years on oral minoxidil and that shed has only slowed following iron infusions. I also have a hard time gauging if my ‘safe’ areas are any more or less dense than my crown and hairline. I just want to slow it down because at this pace it will turn from age normal to balding in about a year/two. Hair grows back but age and AA make that hair thin and prone. Open to any ideas, I’m 3 months back on Propecia with topical Dutasteride once a week, hair has only gotten worse.

Once you can accept that most guys will lose hair in their 40's and beyond, you will finally be able to move on. My density keeps declining despite all my years on finasteride and other treatments. Eventually, genetics will win in the end. The good news is you started late and never had to endure what the majority of the guys who were NW3's and above in their late teens and early 20's.

Don't forget these medication are not cures so you will continue to lose density as you age. In my case, I am the opposite of you. I don't shed abnormal amounts of hair but my density still declines. And since the pandemic, I am not in best shape as I was pre-pandemic so I could blame my loss of density on that but I know very well age and genetics is the true reason. I am glad you are starting to realize the same.

Accepting age and a notable decline, why even use these treatments if they are ineffective against age related male pattern baldness? That’s really where a I get tripped up... 14 dermatologists 2 biopsies and no one will call the AA but they all will say the shedding is abnormal and the sheer number of new hairs is also abnormal related to shed.

If I can break the nightmare that comes
With every shower I’ll chill out. The shed is so f*****g distracting no matter what I’m doing or experiencing I am constantly distracted by falling hair.

would you stop the treatments? Go harder more Dutasteride RU?

Any thoughts on how the Iron IV slowed down the shed and made the hair 400% better for 2 months? Ferritin dropped under 100 and shed started again. Oral Iron at crazy doses never raised my ferritin.

I think age related male pattern baldness can be slowed down by multiple treatments with different mechanisms for hair growth stimulation so it's worth the effort. I don't know much about iron and it's relationship in male pattern baldness. I don't think stopping the treatments is worth the risk of being wrong. I think using finasteride is enough when you don't have aggressive male pattern baldness. How do you know how legit your RU really is? It's from China. You really trust them. I don't anymore.

You may have mentioned this already, but this is a long thread - did the derms you saw check for miniaturisation?

They said said there is at best 10% miniaturization under the scope and that my problem isn’t AA.

I’m on meds because I know it it even in part d as and trying slow permanent loss.

I have had no positive response to Finasteride, RU. Oral minoxidil was great the first two years now just manes me feel awful.

2 iron IVs December and January, hair shed slowed, hair color returned, lasted until late February when FERRITIN levels dropped from 250 to 78. HEMOtologist won’t given more IVs until I drop back under 40.

Will you at least finally admit that in under three years I have thinned dramatically.
I don't know if I would use the word "dramatically". Your hair dry looks totally normal for your age. Yes, you have lost some density but normal at your age. I can't stress enough how I see most men with great hair all their lives start to decline in the 40's and 50's. However, I do see some exceptions but they are mostly hispanic or middle eastern and tend to have super low hairlines.

I know my photos have been all over the place but wanted to share a 2.5 year photo against current. The ones where I still had black hair are pre- minoxidil which was the worst mistake I’ve ever made. Then RU 6 months.

I have lost a ton of hair and continue to shed and tried Propecia/Topical Finasteride just hit 22 months. Density is hard to photograph but Propecia only seems to make it worse.

I have a ton of somewhat miniaturized but not technically dead hairs all over my scalp .5-3 inches indicating the heavy shedding.

I have access to HGH, could this help? If I can stop the constant shed I will quietly jump off the forums and live my life. 500 hair showers are not sustainable.

It's not the iron, it's the red blood cell count. But don't mind me, i am just passing through.

Dude I am on it. Have 3 different hematologists and trying to get them to acknowledge the issue. They stopped approving the Iron be so I’m at the low end of normal range now (39 ferritin). My CBC counts are at the bottoms edge of their ‘range’ so it is a struggle. What did they do for you to help RBC?

I think at some point you’re going to have to come to terms with the idea that nothing will ever work for you. No treatment is guaranteed to work; finasteride/dutasteride don’t save your hair, they give you a shot at saving your hair. It can be a hard pill to swallow, but if events don’t play out the way you wished they would, you’re just not responding to the treatment.

Yes it’s fucked up and probably didn’t have to go this way this fast. The treatments 100% accelerated a situation that would have been far more gradual. Makes it even hard to deal with, also knowing that there is probably an answer even if it’s transplants etc. to make things better. I’ve been willing and able to put for the resources but haven’t been able to get any consistent medical guidance for 3 years. And while sure there still a lot of hair, it is a fraction of what it was. Makes me suicidal.

density if decimated and doesn’t stop shedding

Get a grip...no need to be suicidal as people have tried to put things in perspective for you...there are far worst things...you hair is better than most for your age...focus on the positive instead of the negative. Obsession and dwelling over this one thing is not good. Maybe STOP all hair loss meds and coming on here so often, and looking in mirror would benefit your mental well-being.

This is the kind of hair that’s falling out now with even the slightest touch from my forelock and hairline. This is .75 inch most are about .5. Looks like thinning/tapered roots.

I could have stopped this and I failed. I just bought a ton of CB that will probably never make it to the US or will be fake. I’m desperate. Want to die really, this is so f*****g defeating. My hairline was still solid in June. My hair was black now it’s all gone even after jumping back on Propecia. WTF.

I bought a ton of CB a while back from Alibaba and didn’t use it that long because I had another Telogen Effluvium and horrible shed while on it. I don’t know if it’s fake or my Telogen Effluvium was a result from being on oral finasteride even though I was off of it for a while or whatever. Let me know if you want it free of charge but chill out. You don’t know how bad things can get. My hair was pretty good before starting finasteride and then it all went to hell and I lost so much hair that never fully recovered and it is diffused much worst then I lost a close relative that I would gladly be bald for or do anything to bring that person back. You have it easy ffs.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I know things are far more important. Just the sheer uncertainty and hopelessness that comes after the already risky treatments fail is hard to manage. Did you get -any better when you stopped Finasteride? These dermatologists keep saying Telogen Effluvium when I know there is miniaturization, false hope, wasted effort. Iron ZiC was the only positive in three years but only lasted two months. I really just want 15 minutes an hour without having a hair in my mouth/shoulder/keyboard/food... 3 years of this driving me insane

Yeah i got better..im over the intense Telogen Effluvium..shedding burning itching and i had 3 Telogen Effluvium and really was detrimental to my density. Btw i never had this prior to finasteride only on it and off it. I am still on finasteride but topically...things has improved but still working to get back density and Telogen Effluvium seem to no longer come back. Im on fluridil, min, finasteride, retinol topical once a day. No more taking hair loss drugs orally.

How long did it take for you to recover from Telogen Effluvium? I am suffering Telogen Effluvium from letrozole i stopped in march and i still haven't recovered yet.
