can treatments cause a chronic Telogen Effluvium. This is my daily struggle. Noticeable decrease in density. Can’t tell if I’m hanging in cosmetically because of my crazy baseline or maybe the RU or oral minoxidil is helping?

I dread showering these days. Is it true hairs lost in the shower or in brushing are ‘already dead and detached’ according to my dermatologist?
Yea... Not showering for that shouldn't even be an option to consider. Also there is a myth that showering every day is bad for the hair. All those hairs in the sink cant be just from 1 day. wasnt that the build up on your hairbrush that you took out?

I have tested both daily shower and 2 day breaks. Same yield. I showered yesterday and this is the yield in the morning basically just shaking my head over the sink.

I know the hair is far more weakened l, shorter thank two years ago. Just always thought it would be more gradual? One Chicago her derm swears there is a chronic Telogen Effluvium and ‘mild AA’ there are no white bulbs.

Should I was daily? Am I hurting myself keeping the hair long? Pulling/breaking more than I should be? The length hides the thinning. I can sigh, loose manbun and no one would think I had any less hair than two years ago.

I have three months brand name Propecia ready to go. And pick up a 1% topical tomorrow. If I wasn’t family planning l, I would have taken the jump a year ago.

So nervous to try this stuff even after 8 months on RU. Ever time I start something I take a huge shed and lose a lot of ground, hell maybe even years in the Minoxidil shed.

8 months on RU? what made you stay that long?

Fear that’s it’s somehow working and quitting could make things worse. Constant shed, diffuse miniaturization. Will try Finasteride in some form. Drop everything if that fails.

Even for aggressive male pattern baldness is this a normal shed for a shower? Washing hair every other day. No white bulbs.

What can I expect when I start Finasteride? Will this slow/stop when?

This cycle continues Hairloss wise. Can male pattern baldness shed be this crazy when it comes to loss? Can’t tell if RU is helping at all. Tough as a diffuseR. These are mostly longer hairs maybe a year of growth no white ends.

Despite meds and doctors my TSH is far hypo and my T and DHT levels have dropped since starting RU.

Need to do something to slow the thinning but worried about the meds v. low T. Have topical .1% Finasteride and Propecia pills.

Still looks good but thinning.

Less about the Norwood more about major diffuse loss for me. Not sure this can ever recover density.

because all I’ve heard is if you don’tstart early...

I’ve lost a ton in 2.5 years, still hanging in but density is going fast.

Should I stop RU? I can’t tell if it has helped done 8 months of damage or if 8 months of DHT did the damage?

I think you should drop RU. If it’s not working there’s a potential for it to increase receptor sensitivity which could actually accelerate hairloss

Thanks. I am going to drop it. With sheds like the attached each hair wash I’m not sure how much worse it can get.

I’m going to micro dose topical Finasteride once I figure out how to cover the big diffuse area, pill might be better.

DHT is a trash hormone thats scientifically only useful in puberty. anything above 21 all it does is make you lose hair and get cancer..

the sexual sides reported on it ARENT FROM INHIBITING DHT, THEY'RE FROM THE INCREASE OF TESTOSTERONE.

increasing testosterone levels (in some) results in gynecomastia and sexual dysfunction. We know this from the side effects of anabolic subtances such as steroids.

take the pill. if you get sides just stop. good luck

DHT is also plays a role in sex organ maintenance.

finastride acts by inhibiting 5-ar. 5-ar is found in brain and synthesis neurosteriods.

So not only is finastride blocking DHT production. It is also blocking production of certain neurotransmitters .

Any role DHT plays in brain and sexual function is minor. Minor is even an exaggeration; we can function as normal with tiny levels of this hormone.

It’s so trash you can literally inhibit over 95% of It

it makes no sense that our bodies would secret a hormone if it served no purpose.

for example, lactase enzyme secretion is inhibited once the child no longer drinks breast milk. Why then would DHT still be present if not needed?
