I have decided to add once daily RU to my regimen. My goal is simple. Maintain, Limit sides. I am a diffuse thinner with a NW1.5 hairline and 30% miniaturization. My loss became noticeable less than two years ago. I lose 100-200 hairs daily.

I will post pre-trial photos tomorrow and weekly photos for 6 months. Assess at 6 months to either continue RU or switch to topical Finasteride. I have full baseline labs and will repeat in 6 months. On a strict paleo diet.

I will continue 1.25 oral minoxidil along with 30mg daily of Anagen 10g RU in a Kerastase Stémoxydine® 5% vehicle.

Any advice welcome.

I’ve been on oral since May. Routine wise I think 1 oral and 1 topical is the most I can maintain. With travel and training. I haven’t noticed any sides other than the initial shed. I think it has *helped but I’m losing the battle against Androgens and thyroid. I hope I can turn over some of the miniaturized hairs. Scalp is clean flawless no itch, low serum DHT. Advised not to start Propecia.

Starting tomorrow morning. A rough 30 mg in 6ml stem vehicle.

Post shower daily in the am.

Pictures are dry top, sides and nape.

Definitely losing density. Trust me I know what you are going thru. At least you aren't going gray too fast. What is your ethnic background?

I don’t know what happened over the last few months but it has been a real nightmare.

I’m concerned about the RU and terrified of the Propecia doing more harm than good.

The sides are also crazy thin. My TSH levels went back in range 3.7 still high maybe but I’m on meds for three weeks now. The shedding is a legit 100-150 hairs per day most are thin and dead. Two years ago I could have have carried with a top knot.

I’m French/Italian my father was a NW4 at maybe 34? I sort wish for the grey as it would maybe be less noticeable. Did the Propecia help you at all?

I tested as a poor responder to Propecia. I did a genetic testing that is no longer available that tests if you have the balding gene( I do) and how you respond to finasteride. I think I respond fairly well to minoxidil. I have been in your shoes already and I can tell you, you are obsessing about all this way too much. No matter what you do, you have the balding gene and in your case it turned on around the same age mine did. Just switch to topical finasteride and minoxidil( forget the oral) and keep your TSH normal. You are going to shed some but eventually you should be able to recover some hair and maintain. If not get a hair transplant. Your hair is average to above average for your age. I am trying to save you 13 years of obsession that I wasted. You obvious got BDD( I have it too) as most guys( almost every guy on this forum) would be very content with your current situation.

Thanks @DoctorHouse I know J have been consumed by this for the last two years. I’m still waiting on the topical Finasteride and imagine I’ll give it a shot in the future.

I started the low dose RU today. I can manage it routine wise so I’m going to give it a shot.

What’s your thinking on the topical minoxidil? Have been concerned about any change there for risk over another shed. I could try it as the Finasteride vehicle.

I’m in such low oral I have no idea if it’s doing anything. At a year May 4, I was going to jump to 2.5 daily.

I would try either the Rogaine foam or Lipogaine sensitive scalp. I am on Lipogaine sensitive scalp and I like it.

One week in, no noticle change other than what I perceive to be less shedding during my showers.

Starting to get a significant shed. All types of hair some very thick/normal some long and thin.

I got a magnifying glass and there is an ocean of velus hair diffuse all over my head even sides.

As I don’t have any complete bald spots yet is there a option best to help turn these guys into terminal hairs? Should I be doubling down on the RU? Adding another topical minoxidil to the oral? Is this a situation where Propecia couldnstill save these hairs or are they already gone?

Just remember one of the side effects of synthroid is hair loss. That why I am glad I was on finasteride when I started synthroid.

Seems like a catch 22 Hairloss from being HYPO or from Synthroid. I can map the first Hairloss to the day I started the synthroid just over two years ago.in theory isn’t the synthroid loss Telogen Effluvium? Or is it Telogen Effluvium that just won’t grow back because of the DHT. Do you think the Propecia + Synthroid combination was the best for you? I mean since December it’s been a steep steep decline after leveling off in the fall.

1 month in.

Shedding still. Velus might be getting longer but can’t tell. No sides. Density continues to decline. Hairline crawling back.
