Working on getting my hairline back! BigTX's log

13 month update I switched back to generic minoxidil after a month of no use, and then a month and a half-ish later I stopped finasteride for about three weeks. With the liquid minoxidil my hairline always had residue that stayed in my hair and my scalp always felt dry. The foam switch helped, and I eventually...

Working on getting my hairline back! BigTX's log

Howdy everyone. It's been a while. Moved out to college in an entirely different state with not a soul that I knew. Made a bunch of new friends who are all great people. Academics are tough, but not impossible. Life is far from terrible, but it would undoubtedly be so much better without this...

Liquid minoxidil is causing dandruff, how can I treat it?

So an update for anyone who cares/has the same problem... I went ahead with the emu oil and I decided that a application/3 days gets rid of the itch, flakes, and redness and irritation. In the past itching my applied areas was so satisfying but now it's just itching regular skin. Now to see if...

Liquid minoxidil is causing dandruff, how can I treat it?

Ya I do that. I rub the applied areas while shampooing in hopes that it will decrease the amount of flakes, but it's just not effective enough. But I'm primarily worried about what you think it might be causing, decreased absorption. I'm sure there's something besides nizoral/other shampoos that...

Liquid minoxidil is causing dandruff, how can I treat it?

I heard of a bunch of different types of oils that could do the job, but I was hoping I could get some tips from the veterans here Anything besides Nizoral!

Anybody with recommendations on how to get rid of this minoxidil-induced dandruff

BESIDES NIZORAL, are there any oils I can topically apply routinely to counteract this dandruff buildup..? Thanks

Dang man, congrats looks like you're winning against male pattern baldness If I can ask, what were you using the olive oil for and how long were you using it before switching..?

Working on getting my hairline back! BigTX's log

Update 5/20/14 Hair loss at 8 months into treatment is a little confusing, but goods news is that the amount of tiny and slightly colored hairs I was losing for the longest time are no longer appearing everywhere. Bad news is that I'm still losing regular length hair, not a lot but definitely...

    4 Years on Finasteride

I work out 13 hours a week, basically weightlifting and intense cardio for 2 hours. No effects for me

Working on getting my hairline back! BigTX's log

I actually account the regrowth to the liquid minoxidil, I stopped rolling months ago! I keep hearing emu oil to offset the minoxidil dandruff so I might look into it if I ever want to add something to the regimen. So far I'm just cruising on The 3

Working on getting my hairline back! BigTX's log

Update 5/3/14 I shed a lot yesterday. It was the first day in a while since I've shed an exceptional amount like I was doing back before the meds. It's actually just now starting to get hot in Texas, so I'm hoping it might just be a seasonal thing.

Could minoxidil-induced dandruff cause increased hair shed or prevent regrowth

Hahaha I'll try to keep hands off ID, thanks for your tips I'll look into it! I'm actually already using Nizoral right now. Thing is if I rub it on my minoxidil spots I will get a terrifying amount of hair on my hands. I still use it, just probably not as effective as I could :p
