Side-benefits Of Finasteride/propecia

Hey guys, i’ve recently decided after a very long time weighing up the pros and cons, to finally get on finasteride and see what happens.

Now before anyone bites my head off with a long list of potential side-effects, believe me, i’ve read pretty much every horror story and bad experience (took alot of time) so i’m extremely well versed in what could potentially go wrong. I’m also well aware of what could potentially go right too - and i’ve decided to give it a go.

Anyway, since many online discussions about propecia/finasteride are so heavily saturated and end up with people debating about side-effects, i was wondering if anyone would care to pitch in about some SIDE-BENEFITS!

I’ve read that some people experience loss of body hair... in my case, that would be very welcomed! Also i’ve read that some peoples oily skin and acne calms down - again, another little gem potentially.

Anybody got anything else??

Ps. The first person to write a comment about something like penis size or man-boobs loses. I’ve heard it all, i’ve read it all, i’ve watched it all. There is nothing new you can add that hasn’t been mentioned already, so please stick to the topic. I understand if you’ve had bad side effects that you feel the need to pass that info on, and i truly respect that. But we’ve all seen it now, and we all know what the crack is.

Many thanks :)

I haven't heard any side benefits other than a few of the ones you listed. Any loss of body hair would be welcome as well, lol. I decided to take the plunge with finasteride 2 weeks ago. I do .25mg per day. No side effects yet although I'm terrified of them. In my research, I've come to the conclusion that finasteride harm is exaggerated. I even saw one guy who claimed it ruined his life after taking one pill. I'll repeat that.....he took one pill. I'm not saying that side effects and dangers don't exist, I just think there is much fear mongering and exaggeration. However, I do keep a look out for potential side effects. Yesterday I felt my right nipple itch. I inspected to see if i was growing man boobs. lol

Just try not to worry too much as any little thing that happens will turn into something massive. Youre already looking for faults and if you look hard enough YOU WILL find them. Even if they don’t actually exist. Just relax for about a month or two and try not to think too much about whats happened to others. For all you know, you could be one of finasterides star students in a year from now. Who knows?
Best of luck and be positive dude. For some it causes miracles. Dont forget that.

Sort of the same as less bodyhair, but a bit more specific. My beard seems to grow a lot slower, meaning I have to shave less often. It also seems a little thinner, which is nice for me as I had very coarse beard hair, but that might be negative for others.

Thanks for the support, man. I appreciate it. I try not to worry about it. I spent a lot of time studying about it. I'm pretty optimistic about the results I'll have in a year. I'm an odd case when it comes to hair loss.

I've wondered about this also. I bet there are some other pro's, and con's. However I will say that donald trump has been taking it daily for years and look at him!! (j/k of course) and sorry for getting political. But it is still kinda hair loss related.

I wonder how long exactly he has taken it. I also wonder when he really started to thin. Seeing him back when he was in his 30s. It didnt look like he had lost much. He wasn't even doing that crazy combover/swirl thing

Haha good old trump. I dont think his hair looks too bad for his age, regardless of what he’s doing/has done. Anyway, he’s a pretty good example of finasteride as he obviously doesnt have any issues with having kids or pulling ex pornstars. I’d say he’s living proof that finasteride is ok (if it’s actually true that he takes it) haha

Like others have said, it seems to be good for the skin. There's also this study that uses a weaker 5ar-inhibitor to treat male skin aging. Honokiol that is used in the study only inhibits 5ar type-1 and it still needs more research. If anything I would say 5ar-inhibitors will help with preventing skin aging and not reverse it.

I believe Donald has taken Proecia to a far greater degree than anybody ever has. Most people don't know this, but he also started to thin earlier than any man has begun to thin, in the world. Donald can barely read it's shocking. But yeah I think he had a hair transplant back in the day, and uses Propecia to stop it progressing.

I take propecia. I’ve been on it for a year.
Like you I googled all the horror stories but was still willing to risk it. Sure enough, a year later and no gyno, no ED, no brain fog... I’ve encountered some weaker erections but it wasn’t a problem. That only affected my ego.
One thing I didn’t look into before I jumped on finasteride was the potential to accelerate hair loss. I started this b**ch as a nw1 with slight crown thinning, unnoticeable grown out. A year later am pretty diffuse and I have minor receeders, which is still weird to me lol.
My hair loss was slowwww same loss in 2014. After reading about this now, it’s not uncommon for this to happen. Many posts on this forum even.
So be warned, if you start this drug with a lot of hair and slow loss, you could lose a lot of dem der follicles while trying to maintain.
Other members told me to ride out the shed, hell, I even gave that advice myself. But this ain’t no “shed” lol
So a drug that’s meant to save hair can also make some users go bald. Speechless.

I thought I was “well versed” too SMH

I don’t believe this 2% of people get sides bullshit anymore. I truly believe the sides are inevitable. Whether it’s weeks, months, years. More so years. We can’t f*** with our hormones for that long, shits gonna go down lol. But we understandably all want better hair so we risk it, and live in denial.
We’re only human I guess.

Good luck mate

I think you can over analyze taking a drug. Most likely you take it, and almost nothing changes. In the same way you take a vitamin or supplement and start imagining many changes when really nothing is different. The body is amazing at adapting and fixing things. I think you can take it a long long time and see no differences other than normal aging. Again everyone ages and things change naturally. Probably not the drug but just getting older. Nothing stays the same until you die.
Its like changing your diet where instead of eating lettuce each day you start eating a potato instead. You might feel you have more energy, or your dick isnt the same or anything else. Maybe you start having impotence one day, but its all aging not from eating a potato instead. Same with the drug its human nature to over estimate its impact when really a small hormone change might end up doing nothing long term even though your intuition tells you it cant be good or bad things will happen. Humans are not logical creatures they are emotional ones.

Everybody reacts differently to the drug but I personally have less hair on my head and a softer c***. A week off finasteride and my c*** is hard again. My body doesn’t like this sh*t.
One year is long enough.
Finasteride is great for growing back hair in some of its users. I actually saw some thickening in the first 5 months and no signs of lower libido. I loved it. I would be defending it too if it had carried on that way, but that was before the “shed” hit and destroyed my hair, and my libido went sky high and then plummeted.
But even during the first 5 months when everything was great, I still considered the long term effects but chose my hair. That was stupid for me. I’m kind of glad it didn’t work so I’m not committed to a potentially very dangerous drug.
But like I said, everybody is different. I hope you all have positive results and never experience any side effects in the future, you lucky gits ;)
