Hi, I just made an account so I can talk about my issues so sorry if I do anything wrong im new to this. So i noticed my hairline receding when i was 12 ive had long hair since then to cover it up. Im 14 now and i think im a 2a on the norwood scale. I don’t have a great diet, haven’t seen a doctor yet and my parents don’t know because I am really embarassed about it. Lately I’ve been getting a lot of comments about my hair and that i need to get a haircut but I can’t, I am pretty sure theres no solution out there but its really killing me so i needed to try. Thanks in advance for the help :)

I also found out about the Norwood scale today so i have a hard time judging how bad it is.

My father and both my grandfathers are completely bald, my dad and the grandfather on his side started balding around 20 and my grandfather on my moms side started around 50

You are NW0 right now so you will good for a while. But monitor it when you're around 17-18 years old because you have such an agressive family history.

You're better than fine - remember that androgenic alopecia is a part of androgenization, akin to beard growth more so than aging. Some men develop a mature masculinized hair line in their teens where it sort of stays for years (if not forever) in some cases. Don't worry - your hair looks great. Indeed, check in on this again when you are 18 and consider finasteride 1mg (adding minxodill if you think you need it).

So my hairline is/has receding/receded from NW0 to NW1 but will stay NW1 for a while? Will the places with thin hairs go bald?

Visit a hair loss expert . Visit two different ones to get multiple opinions . Do so every year if you suspect you are receding further .

This is the part im worried about. I know this sounds stupid but if I go to a hair loss specialist my parents would know whats going on and I really don’t want my parents to know they’re the kind if people to make jokes about it and I already feel awful about it.

You should be open with your parents about your feelings, in terms of hair loss. You should visit a dermatologist.

Well i was at the same place as when i was 15. The quicker you take action the more hair you willl save, if you dont tell your parents they will notice within a year that you have lost even more hair. Just get it off your chest and seek treatment then you wont regret it.

It's "probably" maturing, but you need to keep an eye on it and act immediately once you notice a clear recession. So many people act too late you have the advantage of time.

Am I the only one here who seems to think that he appears to be balding in the first picture? Either that or the hairline is very high up but I would expect a 14 year old to a have fuller hairline. Just Keep an eye on it

Would pictures from like a year or 2 ago help confirm what it is? I can probably find some but I don’t have long hair in them.
