how the hell does topical fina / scalp DHT reduction work? isn't the whole mechanism of fina binding to type 2 ar which reduces T -> DHT conversion systematically?

26 patients received a 0.005% solution of finasteride; the remainder received the vehicle only (consisting of 50% ethyl alcohol, 25%
propylene glycol, and 25% distilled water)

This would be a SUPER SUPER low dose. Like absurdly low. It would be 5MG per 100mls. I may re-add this level of finasteride to my topical in light of this study.

I would only suggest to switch to butilenic glycol for those who are sensitive on the skin to propilenic (nothing to do with "sides effects" tho )

I just switched to https://www.sistemagb.com/ including their 2 shampoos to give that a run. It's unique with the minoxidil+tren+Clobetasol and the alternating shampoos of Ketoconazol, Zinc P & Climbazol.

Your local pharmacy, with a prescription (you dont need a specialist, your MD is just fine )
Or every on line Pharmacy like paratti or Sant'Antonio, with a prescription

We don't have topical finasteride in Swedish Pharmacies. I suppose I can try online.

There are few branded finasteride's,
But this formulation is a result of a study, there isnt any brand for it. You need a Pharmacy who makes it for you, and of course swedish pharmacies do it as well.
You need to give them (whatever is them)the composition, not a brand name.

- 9 months
- no sides (i had them with propecia)
- its only annoying applyng topical two times a day but you get used to it

Tissue dht is whats important, serum dht has only a small effect. From what we know now... although I thought AR-1 was what was active in the scalp, but lots of studies show scalp dht down with topical finasteride.

What do you think about double concentration of finateride but 1ml once a day? I have result with minoxidil once a day and wouldn't go for twice a day.

Considering half life of finasteride one would say its the same
But somehow its not (i tried it for months before this routine )
Id rather do it twice during the day and minoxidil before bed if i was you

Yes I think you're right. I'm just very happy to do it once a day mixed with minoxidil (so easy to do).
I actually today combine oral finastéride (0,5mg each day currently) with topical (0,5% fina) mixed with minoxidil once a day. My plan is to reduce slowly oral for only topical (and I will also reconsider the dosage to lower).

I really keep in mind your story but need time to find my way as I just started minoxidil + topical since 2 months. I have positive feelings, see some improvement need time and will review in 6 months.

EDIT: If you used 1 ml every day, from what I understand that should roughly correspond to the 200 μL dose in the latest Polichem study, which was considered effective while reducing serum DHT by "only" 25%--as long as the liposomal gel acts in a similar way as HPCH. If that still gives sides one could try reducing the amount or frequency, e.g. every other day (some doctors recommend 3 times per week).

I was using 0.05% with minoxidil, I was applying about 2ml once a day all over my scalp as I am a diffuse thinner.

I suppose I could try this but I felt pretty awful when the sides appeared, they cleared up within a couple of days of stopping though.
