As some of you know, I have mediocre erectile function. I can get hard, but it takes significant effort/time, and then it might be fleeting. PDE5 inhibitors like v**** are a modest help. A year ago a urologist told me to just get therapy. I did that for a year and it helped with other things (lol), so I went back. My old urologist was gone, so I tried a new one, who saw me and in turn referred me to another one.

I saw him this week, and for the first time I met one who is willing to try different things to help me out. We spent 30 minutes together (he was 60 minutes late), and we discussed various options. We discussed my history. I looked him up online, he has a lot of clinical experience, and a lot of research publications on the subject.

We went over a hormone panel. They're normal. To me, they seemed low, but that's because of some bad lifestyle choices I've made in the past few months, I'm still within the norm of the general population.

He gave me a manual exams. He said that my balls are a good size (lol), and that I don't have any varicosity on my balls (good sign). He pinched in places and I told him my pain level was a 4/10.

We scheduled a penile doppler ultrasound, which will take place in a few weeks. The purpose of that is to study the veins. They measure them when the dick is flaccid, and when it's erect.

He asked me to use cialis every day. He said that unlike v**** which requires timing, cialis does not which reduces stress. He said that having it on me all the time can then build up confidence. I told him that's an expensive drug. He hooked me up with a pharmacy that produces it for cheap. Separately, he said that this will also help with my frequent urination issue, where I need to go often, and I also often wake up in the middle of the night to go urinate. He said that he now often prescribes cialis for that issue for men, regardless of whether or not they have ED.

In addition, he prescribed the prolactin inhibitor cabergoline. Prolactin was my only hormone which came close to the reference range, it was at the upper end. He said that it works for people who can get hard but need a lot of excitement to do so. I told him that sounds like me. Either way I don't expect this one to help, but it's worth trying to see what effect it has.

Finally, we discussed therapeutic massages. He said that I should consider trying them on myself. He also said that other hospitals in the area offer electrical stimulation therapy to help rebuild nerves, and it's something that we could consider in the future.

I feel hope now. Finally, a doctor who doesn't blow me off.

Now ... I do need to lose these 10 lbs that I've gained in the past few months ...

Good to hear. Im still betting on venous leak.

Not sure what other problems you've had, but have you considered quitting wheat?

I stopped eating all wheat products a couple years back, other gluten containing foods being ok, and I no longer have to pee in the night multiple times, and my stomach is much happier. Not to mention I lost 27 pounds (now only 22lbs), and am light than Ive been in over a decade.

LOL, I am sure if you had a hot female doctor you wouldn't mind if she blew you off.

I had a gorgeous Asian female urologist last year, tall, thin, with great hair and skin. She blew me off and I didn't care, because my priority was to get good treatment.

I think that a better diet is worth exploring. My diet improved substantially some time back, but the improvement stagnated. There is still substantial room for progress, and I could try eliminating wheat to see what happens.

The compound pharmacy called me today, and I should get my order of cialis 7 mg sometime next week. They are charging me $200 with shipping for a 90-day supply. I don't know to what extent my health insurance company will refund me.

I did get the cabergoline, I got 8 pills, so a 4-week supply. But I won't be starting for another month, I only want to start one drug at a time.

From Amazon, I bought 60 capsules of zinc picolinate, 15 mg, supposedly it's 15 mg of zinc and not 15 mg of zinc picolinate. That might be the one that I start first.

Is that better than zinc glucconate? Glucconate was what my readings suggested.

My impression is that orotate is the best, then picolinate, then gluconate. However, I couldn't get the right dosage of zinc orotate, so I didn't bother.

We're not discussing hair regrowth. The other products are for different uses, for example the doctor said that the cialis also helps with prostate health.

I know, I was recommending picolinate earlier in this thread for getting your mojo back .worked wonders for me .

Cialis 7 mg/day has been absolutely phenomenal in fixing my urinary issues. It's apparently an off-label use but god damn is life better now. This is absolutely fantastic.

I'm going to wait a few more days to see if this holds, to confirm that it's not a fluke.

Success is continuing on a combination of cabergoline and cialis.

I actually had a difficult time crawling out of bed this morning without jerking off. I subsequently had a few hard, spontaneous, erections throughout the day. I was actually worried about being embarrassed at one point today, but luckily it went away.

Hello,

I would like to express my opinion on this thread. I read the first page only so if I repeat something that has already been posted, please excuse me.

ED or worsened erections can be caused by pituitary issues or injury to the penis. For example, a small tumor in the pituitary or an enlarged pituitary supresses one hormone and exaggerates another. Also, a circumsition can be the cause if too much foreskin was cut and/or fibrotic tissue was created during recovery. Penis may not have enough space to be erect, blood flow may be worsened, etc.

For the second condition, you don’t mention it on page one so I assume you don’t have it. For pituitary issues, you most likely have elevated prolactin since I now read that you are getting results with a prolactin reducing medicine. High prolactin when other hormones are fine means an issue with your pituitary gland. You need that hormone for sleep but it causes a host of problems sadly.

My advice is to have an mri for the gland and to stop taking oral medications that lead nowhere in the long run. For example, zinc is not the issue unless you are very deficient which you aren’t. By improving your diet, you won’t be needing any vitamin or mineral in oral form of questionable quality and you put less pressure to your organs.

Good post.

The zinc and magnesium supplements are low dose and temporary, I do not plan to keep them up long term. They will not be undermining my organs at this dosage.

Circumcision is not an issue as I had normal erections for a long time.

As for the prolactin, I can always reduce the dose. Mine has been tested twice with the testing done two years apart, I'm at the upper end of the normal range and I got the same result both times. With a prolactinoma I would have a much, much higher prolactin level and it would have increased my prolactin levels over those two years.

I went in for my penile doppler ultrasound today, what an ordeal that was.

First they measure your blood vessel sizes and responses in the flaccid state, that's easy, takes ~30 minutes.

Then there's an injection of "tri-mix", which is the name for a mixture of three compounds. One of the three compounds if PGE1 which is popular around here. The injection is made into the side of the penis. After this the doctors leave the room, one is told to manually stimulate until an erection arrives, which it did in my case with a low dose of 10 mg. They took all of my measurements and they were fine, which included left-right symmetry of venous response. My nerves, my wiring, etc. are fine, though it was a bit slow to fill up which explains why the medication helped. At this point I have not taken any cialis since Wednesday, the doctor wanted me at baseline.

What happened next was kind of annoying ... the erection would not go away. I was hard for roughly 3 hours. They had to withdraw some blood with a needle (roughly ~40 ml worth), after which I was still hard, so they injected me with another drug, something that sounds like ephedra, maybe ephenylene? It's a good thing that I stayed at the hospital as they were able to deal with it quickly and thus prevent damage.

Today I had a 3 hour erection and 4 needles inserted into my dick, it might have been five, but at least we ruled out some hypothetical problems.

A four hour erection, is extremely dangerous. And it can be caused by testosterone.

Rather than injections, I prefer to take testosterone and rub it around my testicles/or penis, sometimes
in my armpits.

It's MUCH better for me than either Cialis or v****. I have much better erections, and multiple ones
(intercourse) in one night with testosterone (5% cream).

Here's more information on it. I highly recommend testosterone for older guys like myself (i.e. @DoctorHouse, but
that's way up there in age! LOL).

OK. Now I understand. That sucks, but at least you're in the normal range for everything.

I am currently just having issues with "man boobs", which is from medication that I've taken
for hair regrowth.

I'm trying (lol, :p), or "failing" at doing a Navy Seals workout (push ups and situps, but I'm on the
weak side), in an attempt to get rid of my boobs.

Do you recommend anything. I'm probably going to have to go down on the Progesterone (I already
cut out the estrogen, currently took my last topical dose tonight).

I can't recommend anything given the hormones that you're taking. What I've learned about weight loss applies to total body fat, not to the distribution of fat, which is determined by hormones.
