Dutasteride Is Not That More Effective Than Finasteride

I don't know where the misconception that dutasteride is a miracle drug and prevents hair loss in 99% of cases came from. I know three people from the age of 15-18 In real life that are on it as well as me and it barely has an effect on hair loss. In my honest opinion if u start balding in college or earlier (I started balding at 13-14) then dutasteride or finasteride won't do sh*t. The only stuff that has worked well was oral testosterone blockers. People on this website NEED to understand that testosterone causes hair loss, not DHT. Although Testosterone is 10-20x more abundant than DHT on a ng/dl basis in the male autonomy. DHT is about 3-5x more androgenic so lets just say 1ng of DHT is 4ng of androgens in comparison to testosterone. The normal range for testosterone levels are 300-1000ng/dl and for DHT it is 25-75mg/dl. We know that androgens (testosterone and dht) cause hair loss. so if you take a person 1000ng/dl of testosterone and 75ng/dl of DHT(1000X1=1000 + (75*4)=1300 of androgens. lets just say we give them Dutasteride. WELL, they will have 90% less DHT. so then they have (1000 + 7.5*4)=1030 of androgens. 1030/1300 Is a 20% reduction in androgen levels. so how TF are u gonna tell me that reducing my androgens by 20% is gonna cure my hair loss???? A cure would be a T blocker or an AR blocker. From what I've seen: spironolactone, cyproterone acetate, flutamide, enzalutamide, or bicalutamide will prevent hair loss. These will ACTUALLY change your androgen levels drastically or inhibit activation of the AR.

NOTE: I am not anti-testosterone. If I did not suffer from male pattern baldness I would be probably on roids right now. Testosterone is a great hormone, but if I'm gonna be the only bald 17 year old in my school of 3000 kids and get bullied everyday, then F**K that. @Sonolmn98 @Maave

finasteride will stop working for you bro, I cannot tell you when or at what time (this depends on the transcription of the androgen receptor gene). You need an oral Antiandrogen sadly.

How long did you take finasteride or dutasteride?
finasteride 6 months now, dutasteride 4 months now. there is no such thing as a shed as finasteride or dutasteride do not alter hair cycles. finasteride and dutasteride reach max 5ar reduction rates at 4 weeks for both so there is no need to stay on them for multiple months or years like others on HairLossTalk.com preach.

finasteride stopped working after 1.5months and dutasteride hasn't helped as a replacement.

So he’s a fullhead who doesn’t give treatments long enough to work, instead choosing to go around to every young person on here and fear monger by telling them that their treatments definitely will not work for them

FYI - He also wrote that his hairline is fine that's why you won't see any pics

Not very helpful for newbies truly loosing hair and looking for advice

Exactly look at that guy further up this thread, this dhtcel doesn’t know anything about him but he instantly fear mongers and tells him that finasteride won’t work

Nickypoo had pretty aggressive temple receeding at only 19. Got full regrowth just on dutasteride. Still maintaining 10 years later.

At the end of the day these drugs don't work for everyone.

I agree Testostorone causes hairloss, it is an androgen after all

check out this vid.

He said his DHT levels are literally 0 (can't even detect it on a bloodtest) and is still losing his hair. So clearly T and DHT both effect the hair, it just depends how sensitive your follicles are too them

No it’s not clear that T effects the hair on its own. Finasteride 5mg/day decreases serum DHT by 71% and scalp DHT by 38% while Dutasteride 0.5mg/day decreases serum DHT by 91% and scalp DHT by 54%. Scalp DHT is suppression is far more important. The numbers show why finasteride and dutasteride will merely just slow down hairloss. You need a topical AA as well.

For what it’s worth, DHTCell is one of the most dangerous posters on this forum. He’s a teenager with no medical background telling noobs and lurkers that the only solution to any hair loss is to chemically castrate yourself with oral AA. People are going to needlessly suffer because of him.
