Hey guys just a little update.
Its been a while since I have been on this forum which obviously means something is working to increase my confidence!
I am coming up for 3 years on Finasteride and have never felt better about it.
Toppik + Finasteride has literally saved me for now and long may it continue. My aim is to get to 30 with somewhat majority of my hair then I can rest easy.
Just as a reminder of my routine, very very simple:
-1mg Finasteride (Daily)
-Toppik
-nizoral or Alpecine Shampoo once a week
-Hair wash with shampoo every 3/4 days
I know this is a very basic method and lots of you out there have regimes that include 10000 different products/potions that may or may not work - but I like to keep it simple and for me Finasteride is the only one that really matters.
Now for some pics. (With Toppik in and styled but not washed for 2 days)

Looks good, any sides? Have you ever felt weird on finasteride or do you think you would have felt different without it?

Excellent thread. We need more people like you that provide updates when treatment is actually working.
My advice for the future: if you see any sign of worsening, dont panic. Stick to finasteride and dont change anything. If it still continues to clearly worsen then change/add something.

Hey all,
Just an update as haven't been very active anymore.
Everything is great so far, still on Finasteride 1mg and nothing more other than cosmetic supplies. (TOPPIK).
I have no side effects as far as im aware, sex drive is great and all in working order. Although I do often think what are the long term effects of Finasteride and will it eventually catch up on me as being something dangerous... maybe should get some blood checks. Not really sure.
I will post some pictures when I have time and if anyone has any questions feel free!

I am still alive!
Treatment: Finasteride 1mg
I have used NOTHING else for 9 years other than Oral Finasteride 1mg, first 5 years every day, then changed to EOD to combat any side effects and has so far helped massively and still maintaining the same hair as I had 9 years ago.
I strongly believe I would be fully bald at the age of 30 if I did not hop on this medication.
I am FINALLY going to start minoxidil as part of my routine, some might say better late than never. The reason I didn’t earlier? Honestly… laziness, money and I was content with just keeping the hair I have. Now I have more access I feel why not give it a go and maybe start some updates on Minoxidil if people are interested?
Proud to say that it has all been positive.
I have a partner, yes my d**** still works… don’t listen to scare mongering stories until you try it yourself. If you do get side effects then manage it or STOP. Inform your doctor you go on the medication just in case and just use common sense.
I will upload some current photos soon to show progress.

Nine years of maintaining your hair with just finasteride is impressive. Glad to hear the side effects ended up being manageable for you too. I'd definitely be interested in seeing how adding minoxidil changes things, even if it's starting late. Looking forward to the new photos.
I am really happy to know that finasteride is working for you extremely well and you have retained most of your after 9 years, without any side effects. This makes me emotional because I clearly remember reading your posts in 2016. As such, some of the forum members who were present in 2016 are not active in the forum anymore.
Your testimony gives me a great impetus to copy your hairloss regimen. Wishing you well

The first step should be getting a proper diagnosis from a dermatologist or a doctor experienced with hair loss. Photos can help, but they are not enough to judge miniaturization, donor strength, or whether this is definitely male pattern hair loss.
If it is androgenetic alopecia, stabilizing the hair loss should usually come before thinking about anything surgical. Finasteride is commonly discussed because it targets DHT, which is one of the main drivers of male pattern hair loss. Minoxidil can help with growth and thickness, but it does not address the hormonal cause in the same way. Of course, both should be discussed with a doctor so you understand the benefits and possible side effects.
I also would not rush into a hair transplant at your age. The final pattern of hair loss is still very unpredictable at 20, and using donor grafts too early can create problems later if the loss continues.
