Ive been on finasteride for 6 years and its still going strong. However im thinking of making a switch to avodart next year. Maybe avodart could be the next step for you?
Ive found this too since male pattern baldness started. My hair grows slower and also doesent grow as long. I have found taking MSM speeds up growth and am slowly finding my hair is able to grow to a longer length again. However nowhere near the speed or length pre-male pattern baldness days. Sigh!

I dont think smoking would actually trigger male pattern baldness if your not susceptible to it, but if you have male pattern baldness it could well make things worse.
