In the case of diffuse thinners, I think Tsuji might be a cure depending on the physiological causes for the hair loss. In people with DPA, it will unequivocally be the cure. In those with DUPA, it's a much more complicated answer.
Often times, DUPA is caused by an underlying health problem...
It's great to see that progress is being made in Tsuji's camp! I'll be looking forward to seeing how to price drops over time. I know some are disappointed by parts of the recent news, myself included, but regardless it's still pretty encouraging to know a cure exists.
And on the off-topic...
Do you see a lot of miniaturized hairs or is it mainly healthy looking hairs that fall out? If it's the latter, this could definitely be a gastrointestinal issue rather than an androgen one.
Even if I die 20 years earlier, it's worth it for my hair at this time in my life. If I had gone bald at 18, I would have never met my fiance, I would have been too discouraged to go to college, I would have turned into a recluse, and I would have been so completely depressed with my situation...
I started at just under 18 years old (I've been on it for two and a half years) and I share these same sentiments. Unfortunately it has completely halted and reversed what little beard growth I had, but that's a small price to pay for the peace of mind the drug has given me.
I took liberties with the exact wording, but I'm referring to this treatment being developed: http://www.riken.jp/en/pr/press/2016/20160402_1/. This specific press release is brief, but there was discussion on the RIKEN site from the team about applying this to producing hair for cases of...
I can't say anything with certainty, but I know that this isn't the typical miniaturization we see in DUPA or male pattern baldness. I believe this is more indicative of a systemic issue creating inflammation and triggering an immune response.
It was minocycline. Although if you were treated with accutane, that's even more severe. Unexplained hair loss is well documented in patients treated with this drug. Incidentally, accutane also carries a significant risk of leading to IBD. However, in this case it appears to most frequently...
There are wispy and unhealthy hairs, but these hairs aren't what you would ordinarily see in a patient with DUPA. They're very thin and grow long, while retaining some pigment. It's been like this for over 5 years and the thinning comes in waves that roughly correspond to my bowel issues. Here's...
I think it's very important to know whether you truly have the miniaturizing DUPA that is described in medical literature. Many people, myself included, mistakenly assumed that we had DUPA solely because we had diffuse hair loss all over our scalp. In my personal case, I had crohn's disease that...
Does this mean one person's cells can supposedly be used to regenerate hair on a completely different person? This would be interesting considering some people have no stable donor zone.
One thing that's consistently smothered my enthusiasm for this is that it seems the new hairs will take on the traits of the hair that it was harvested from. This means that individuals suffering from DUPA (some men and a very large portion of women) will seemingly experience little benefit from...
