instead we have mad mens who suggest to put it directly on your face in order to promote beard growth...

it should be well known by now that minoxidil damages collagen and elastin

by inhibiting collagen

by causing oxidative stress (minoxidil is basically a free radical nuclear bomb)

by transforming type III collagen into type I collagen which makes the skin feels less supple and less resistant to oxidative stress like sunlight

by melting/flushing subcutaneous fat away, eg under your eyes giving you an old look

this all leads to increased ageing of skin and lines like tear through or nasolabial folds

this all can happen very rapid and in a short perpiod of time.

Even worse these changes are often permanent..its a misconception that the damage will dissapear once you quit. there is no magic mechanism that type I collagen transforms back to type III collagen ..

there is no mechanism that brings your subcutan fat back to your eyes..no if youre unlucky you have to get fillers every 6 month to repair at least some of the damage

whicv means..if you see it it can be already too late

everyone is whinning about finasteride but when it comes to skin and aesthetics minoxidil is way more dangerous. in fact i think the risks of finasteride are way over overstated why the risks of minoxidil are way to underestimated.

As soon as the homemade brotzu lotions with the DGLA are ready I am throwing all my Minoxidil into the f*****g trash and never looking back. Skin under my eyes looks like sh*t and it became that way within 1 year of minoxidil, full of wrinkles more than a 35-40 year old person and I am only 26. Now I've been using it for 2.5 years and I am very eager to quit before I look like complete sh*t. Hopefully I can recover a youthful look once I quit.

thats the thing

it might be not reversible

f*** minoxidil

i mean why do you take it? for medical reason? no you take it to look good. but you might get the opposite results

besides..it often doesnt even work that good on the hairline and can cause shedding

this is my hope too !
2 years on minoxidil and the skin under my eyes is a complete mess ! dark circle and huge wrinkle !
that is crazy because i have a strong aging genetic, and before touching minoxidil i never ever thinked about wrinkles !
honestly starting minoxidil was the biggest mistake i have ever made in my life .
the only thing i remembered those past 2 years was the fact of having to apply minoxidil twice a day ! this sh*t is time consuming
and i am sure this is the minoxidil because i absorbed way too much of it , i got hypertrichosis even with low dose of topical version, so i get the sides easily .
But now i am stuck with it

make sure to change your pillows every week and apply minoxidil a few hours before you go to bed bc it can transfer to your face via pillow.

I wish it did not work. Then at least there would be no reason to take it. But it did help. Of course my hair still looks like sh*t even with it, but I would be absolutely most likely forced to shave it if I quit minoxidil now. I can't quit it until I can replace it with something equally good or better.

I was only using it for 3/4 months, i noticed my skin got a bit worse, darker eyes etc wouldn't say aged though. Funnily enough i didn't notice bloated face until it was pointed out to me by a family member. Anyway i have stopped it and just using finasteride now, i don't think i gained much on it, i actually think it thinned my hair more. Though from what i have read six months to a year is how long you should give it, i was dermarolling aswell which may have increased side effects.

thats the thing. if the changes are slowly and subtle you wont notice until its too late

i suggest everyone to take close up picks from the skin of the face and especially of the under eye area before they start minoxidil and compare it every few weeks

I never noticed skin side effects from Minoxidil ...I think you guys should use a good anti aging routine and get fillers under your eyes (I got Restalyne under them before and it lasts more than 6 months under the eyes as there is less movement).

I thought that you wrote that you can't handle s-equol?

Why are you mentioning the DGLA?

minoxidil...not even once

I agree man. I know for fact that 5 years of minoxidil use has not increased bags under my eyes, and water retention around my face, but it has caused large, weird vein formation and even fluid filled vessels on my scalp. 100% fact and I don't care if anyone here argues with me. I have been off of it for two months now and things are looking better already. When I first shaved my head, I remember catching a glimpse of myself in the gym changing room with the flourescent lights. Various large veins all over my head that I KNOW are now normal (literally only in the areas where I heavily applied minoxidil). Dropped it and I can see them reducing in size by the week. f*****g crazy.

Expanding the veins is not a side effect of minoxidil, it's the intended primary effect. Minoxidil is a vasodilator.

Vasodilation is the widening of blood vessels. It results from relaxation of smooth muscle cells within the vessel walls, in particular in the large veins (called venodilators), large arteries, and smaller arterioles. The process is the opposite of vasoconstriction, which is the narrowing of blood vessels.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasodilation

Minoxidil is an antihypertensive vasodilatormedication and is used to treat hair loss.

You literally just complained about minoxidil accomplishing its primary purpose.

I understand vasodilation and I wasn't trying to "complain". All I was noting is that it caused such enlargement of VEINS (as diagnosed from a vascular specialist) that it was shocking. Also, these new fluid fill vessels that seem to be at the termination of veins. Like veins or possibly lymph vessels are not properly moving the fluid and building up. Shocking to me as well, is that THIS was the primary cause of the scalp inflammation I have been complaining about all these years on these forums. two months with no minoxidil = 95% reduction in scalp crawling, swelling feeling, burning and itching.

so....

100% like that, but if you turn them vertically instead of horizontally... like squiggling intertwining worms running from the top of the hairline down the temples. Also, large straight veins randomly around the scalp. I buzzed down the sides and back several times over the years and analyzed thoroughly. never saw them until now.
