The minute you see the island forming is when your current life ends and a new one starts.

It's frigging scary for me. I am no where near it yet but that's my pattern I think. Thankfully it's very amenable to a transplant (fullish hair can be restored) but still.

What's your Norwood btw Resu and pattern? Never asked you I think.

Seriously. The "A" pattern of hairloss is the worst by far. Looks terrible in the earlier stages of loss.

Agreed. Jude law still has loads of hair but looks like *** because he's losing his forelock. Gotta say I prefer my diffuse thinning, at least it looks okay shaved.

Come to think of it, why the hell hasn't jude law got hair transplant? He's got tonnes of mega thick donor and only a small area to cover.

The mobile site for here is just awful, deletes my list when trying to edit

It looks very bad I agree but long term it's actually the best pattern. It doesn't exceed 5A and your crown remains pretty good. With a transplant you can get so much hair back and probably life long protection with meds. Yes it's a hassle with a hair transplant but you will never be bald with this pattern, especially as they tend to have at least average donor hair. You look more bald than you are as it's all from the front. Yet you can get a full looking head of hair back, priceless.

The other pattern I like is people who start thinning at the vertex with an intact hairline. That's great with meds if you catch it early but again it could be very aggressive too.

Diffuse is the worst IMHO. I know some people have recovered a lot with medication as you have no bald areas and that skews the thinking on the forum. But generally this type of loss shows your entire head is very DHT sensitive and especially at a young age, that's no good thing. Long term prospects don't look as great with this generally speaking.

I like to look at the big picture.

I can't figure it out either. Probably a case of wanting to be defiant.

I'm diffusing in a very advanced pattern basically NW5A, I can see the island forming very clearly now. You can check my thread, unfortunately I had to give up minoxidil because it was messing with the pressure of my eyes so I'm back to baseline and the comb-over no longer works as it did when I was on minoxidil. My hair could still be saved if some treatment showed up in the next 3 years.

I just had a look at your pictures. I didn't know you had them up, it's always nice to see. In those pictures it looks like it would respond to meds but you've had sides on minoxidil. Also you're not on finasteride due to sides? I would try RU or some topical anti androgen if you haven't already. What about minoxidil foam? I know it's still minoxidil but you never know.

It's an interesting pattern, I am not sure if it's the A variety. Either way, you are far from game over bro.

The island is diffusing too, you're right that it may not be VA I have the itch on the sides and at the nape too, I don't know what will remain after the DHT apocalypse. I have to try the foam later, I was very consistent with the liquid minoxidil specially because it calmed the itch for some reason but the pressure on the eyes wasn't something that I could just ignore, I gave up for a while and I didn't feel it on any day that I was off, then a month or so later I tried minoxidil again and after 3 or so days I started feeling the pressure again. the thickening from minoxidil was nice, also the pg gave the hairs a more solid texture once it dried.

Hopefully foam will help. It's weird I used Minoxidil for 2-3 days last week, liquid and I am not one to over react but it definitely gave me a headache every time I used it! I think the problem is with Minoxidil and the ingredients in general.

I am just guessing but maybe the Minoxidil widened your blood vessels leading to slight raise in pressure in the eye. It could be unrelated, how is your cardio health in general, that can screw up the eyes. Get an optician to check it out if you still have it.

Now that is what couldn't cope with, I am thinning on top since 16 now 19 and also receding <--(witch I hate the most) but If it ended up that far by my 20's then i'd have to yank the rest of the hair out to speed and finish off what nature intended to happen.

Me too, I am also receding slightly too though, Luckily I can cover it up.

I would prefer to bald with thinning then recede past Norwood 1.5 -2

Yeah that island always stuck out on me like a gaping sore snidely thumbing it's nose at me. So in a fit of rage one day I whipped out my trusted Remington and finished the ****er off for good once and for all. No I didn't feel good afterward just not as bad.

All good points. Though i'd say ONLY if treaments don't work (finasteride or minoxidil) or the lose effectiveness and you're looking to do a transplant.
