I'm sure it will be decent, he would have got his minders to research into it. If he can get the results Ricardo Carvalho got then it'll all be good.

Yeah cause no celebrities have ever had bad surgery have they?
Why the fukk would he have his 'minders' do the research? As if they'd know anything about it or even care how it turns out.
Maybe he gets his cleaner to choose his house for him aswell?

If he'd done any research at all he'd have gone to one of the big names and would'nt be talking about buying hair gel and being thrilled with the results 1 day after surgery.

Did anyone see the program on the UK transform clinic featuring a couple of their hair transplant's on thursday? The results were unsuprisingly shite, and this is what I'd expect Rooney to recieve.

I saw that too, and the hair transplant's were shockingly bad I had to feel sorry for the guys who are thinking its going to turn out well.

Exactly this is a specialist job, you cant just leave it in the hands of some faceless cosmetic surgery. Thats like asking your local oddjob/handyan to completley re-plumb your house. Yes lots of surgeons could do a hair transplant but very few can make a decent job of it.
People think that if they go with a big company that advertises nationwide they'll be safe.

I think the biggest issue is this; while clinics aren't butchering people any more, the circuit clinics are making exaggerated claims about the outcome of a single procedure and a few hours in theatre.

The reputable surgeons will be upfront about the number of sessions required to achieve the desired results and be honest about what is possible. The clinics who employ sales guys are all about "selling the dream".

I remember all too well how the Norton clinic promised me a perfect hairline "just like my girlfriends". Sadly, that same sales guy made that same promise to a friend of mine just a few days ago.

There seems to be a very similar thing going on in the laser-eye treatment industry.

Clinics are'nt butchering people anymore?!

Hmm I'd suggest otherwise. You think the likes of Norton, Nobel and the Wimpole clinic are'nt turning out good results these days? I'd call some of the poor results being turned out by the clinics featured in last thursdays documentry as butchered.

I dont hear many any stories about people getting butchered by lazer surgery if they did you can be sure that those clinics would be shut down almost immeadiatly. I've had corrective eye surgery and its alot easier than a hair transplant its pretty much all done by machinery the flap is cut by a device and the lazer is programmed to the patients eye prescription. I know plenty of people who've had it done and none have experienced any problems. I had lens implants done and was unfortunate to suffer from night glare but this was due to my eye characteristics. Infact theres not one case in the world of anyone ever having lost their vision because of this procedure.

sorry but hair or no hair he's still gonna look like and behave like a knuckle dragger!

I think this is going to be a big mistake for him credibility wise, public opion of him is already at a all time low and if you read the comments on this story on MSN, Yahoo ect people just think its ridiculous. I think this could effect his future marketability with endorsments and sponsorship.

That's a really old story, but was the top of the list in Google. Watchdog had an article about laser surgery a few weeks ago as I recall.

My point though was not about the outcome of laser surgery, but that many clinics are using dubious sales techniques and pricing when the reality is very different and costs far more for the desired outcome.

Well thats true because its mostly nationwide clinics that offer laser eye surgery and they're run in the exact same way as the chain cosmetic surgery clinics that offer hair transplant's.
The likes of transform are no different to Kwik fit the only difference is they're working on people instead of cars.
When I had my eye surgery done I went to a independant specialist.

It seems to be true of all sorts of surgery after a few years now I think about it, from gastric bands to boob jobs.

It's a shame that people don't do more research; when I had my gastric band I paid nearly double what transform and "cosmetic procedures R us" type places charge, but I went with a clinic which has statistically the best long term results in Europe.

I'll think I'll stick with the specialists instead of looking for "bargains" :)

Thats just the way it is, people would prefer to go to large corperations like Asda or Tesco to buy everything from fruit and veg, meat ect to Tv's and sofas all conviently under one roof than go to independant specialists.
That may be ok for inanamate objects but for surgical procedures? :shakehead:
But thats just how people do things these days, they trust big names and this is the mistake.
People dont want to do research when they can just respond to an ad in the back of a magazine or newspaper. (and be treated like just another sale rather than a individual case.)
They dont seem to realise that this is not some random everyday purchase, if it goes wrong there is no replacement or warranty.

I had laser eye surgery with a respected independent specialist too. Unfortunately in the 5 years since I had it done my eyes are slowly becoming short sighted again which means I now have to wear glasses for driving. In a way it's the same for hair transplants and medication. You can slow the hair loss, maybe grow a bit but I doubt the tide can be stemmed indefinitely.

I had laser eye surgery from optical express 2 and a half months ago from optical express and am suffering from pretty bad night glare. Day time vision is good and my vision is 20/15.
They said it can take up to 6 months to clear up but I'm getting suspicious of this. I wish I had done more research beforehand.

I had my surgery 10 yrs ago and I think my eyesight has deteriorated but only slightly. The night glare however is permanant but its due to the thinness of my cornea's. I dont regret the surgery for 1 second.

Technicly probably not but I still do. Lots of small lights are not too bad but I occasionaly walk down a pitch black alleyway with one single strong light at the end of it and in that situation it dazzles me so badly I cant see a thing. Its best to just try and not look directly at the source of the light.

Fingers crossed he gets a good yield.
