Fellow members,

This thread will show my battle against hairloss. This will have monthly updates.

Background information about me ;

Since I was 17 I've notice my hairline was receding. I've always had very thick hair. At first it didn't bother me that much, but since I became 19 years old it started to get noticeable.. Currently I'm 20 years old. My hair is getting thinner at the back, it also receding even further. (Sorry if my English isn't that great, I'm from the Netherlands)

My father is a Norwood 6, he started balding at around 18 and has been bald since he was like 27. Same goes for both of my grandfathers. And I don't want to follow up this pattern . My goals is to maintain what I have, and it would be nice if there would be gains.

The start 20-02-17:

This is the month before is started my regime.



Start regime 22-03-17:

This is the status of my hair at the start of my regime.

My regime is as follows:
- 0.15mg dutasteride daily (22:00)
- Dermaroller 1.5mm daily (20:00)
- 5% minoxidil 1 time daily (20:00)
- Supplements (Biotin, krill, omega 3,6,9, perilla)
- Started hitting the gym again




1 month status 22-04-17:

I noticed my hair thinning out. At the end of the month is noticed I'm losing 100's of hairs, this always was around 10 hairs. I find hairs every time I run my hands trough my hair, while showering and applying wax.

Since 1/5/17 I started applying minoxidil in the morning and in the evening, so two times a day.

hey bro, still applying minoxidil only to your hairline ? not on crown ? did you start to see result on crown with duta alone ?
the increase shedding is certainly due to minoxidil . if you respond well to treatment you will have great result .
me too i am about to start duta 0,1 mg , i will take 0,5 mg once a week ( 0,071 mg per day ) .

hey nice to see you again. I still only apply on my hairline. I did this for 1 month, now since 2 days I started to apply in the morning and evening, and hoping to see results because as far as I am (still early) haven't noticed anything yet. The shedding is all over my head, is this normal when I only apply on temples?

Good to hear you got the duta, hope it will work for you .

Haven't noticed any improvement yet, only much much shedding, not noticeable worse still baseline.

A lot of luck, but IMO your started atacking common hair loss in a very agressive mode.

I'm diagnosed by two different dermatologists who don't know each other. They both told me I had Androgenetic Alopecia and I was a 2 on the scale of hamilton/norwood.

What exactly do you mean by common hairloss? Both my grandfathers and father were bald at the age of 30. Starting to bald in early 20's. Also I get duta from one of those two dermas. They said on Dutasteride (if it works) it will be better.

But interesting your two dermayologic advice was dutasteride? You are a fortunate person because most of dermatologist only know about rogaine and propecia

Only one of them, the other one only consisted the problem but didn't got any further proces to solve the problem.

I hope duta will work for me to maintain and maybe gain a little and also rogain for hairline. Will keep this post updated monthly.

You're in a very similar situation i was when i started, except that i think i was Norwood 2 only at the right site. 8 monts on minoxidil and 4 months on finasteride and i'd consider myself a fullhead atm.

Good to hear . Have you got any progress pictures? I'm curious, could you maybe pm them, or have got a thread about it?

Hope this will go the same for me. Currently I can see very tiny little hairs on my hairline

Update 2 months in:

Still shedding hair. But I think it is becoming less.

Feel like the hairline really tinned out. And receded a bit.

No pictures this month. Will take them next month.

So, I'm nearly at the 3rd months and still only apply minoxidil on the hairline.

Amd wondering if you can see regrowth, If I for example sit in the car with bright sun and look in the mirror I can see very many little hairs (can only seem them in bright light tbh.)

Is this regrowth? Pictures are made when I just came out of the shower so my hair is a little wet.

3 Month update . Noticing that the shedding is becoming less , max 20 hairs a day. I feel like my front has thinned out a bit.. Still following my regimen (only not dermaroller every evening, but like 3 to 4 times a week). I have only missed minoxidil 2 times and duta 1 time.

I hope that so much, sometimes it just feels like it are peaking hairs from my nw2 area. My hair also feels a lot healthier I don't really know how to explain that, but that is also nice

4 month update, feels like the front tinned out and receded more. Still not feeling any kind of side effects.

So i'm 5months in treatment.

At month 2 I had some shedding, could pull out like 10 hairs everytime I brush my hands trough my hair (while washing).

This did stop, but now again since a week i'm experiencing the same things.

I changed my regime in to:
- duta 0.15mg every evening
- minoxidill every evening
-dermaroller every evening

I also stopped with hitting the gym since i worked full time the entire holiday. I'm going to start this again at monday, since i'm going back to school. (And i admit i also was kind of lazy) but now i gaines some weight, not much but i hate it. It makes me unsure and think i would become fat and get geno. So time to start getting in shape again .

I'm also going to try revita shampoo for the coming months.


concluding; sometimes it's hard to apply minoxidil every evening. I missed out like a week in total i think and i only missed duta once. I think i'm slightly behind base line, need to get a hair cut btw.
