I can't say it's safer or not

Liposomal was safe for me until I started using a higher amount and got bad sides. I always had a little brain fog on it for the first 72 hours after application or so, other than that my sexual life and emotional stability was fine. Liposomes are there to enhance absorption, not prevent it

I don't have these sides with Trichosol. This works the best for me at 0.05% or 0.1%

I can't use DMSO
Hi Mustang,
Pretty new here, but just read through this entire thread.
May I ask, are you based in Belgium seeing that you had contact with Dr Mwamba?
I am based in Belgium myself so I might be able to get a consultation with him.
Would you mind if I PM you to ask your opinion on my case?
I am currently being treated by a different hair specialist and kinda informing her about topical dutasteride.
Thanks!

Hey Gert

I am based in Spain most of the time, I have travelled to Brussels 4 times to get treatment with Dr Mwamba (one FUE, two donor repairs and one beard repair)

You should reach him via email, they do video consultations for free (www.fueclinic.com)

First photo is a few months in topical dutasteride and the other one is 8 months in 0.5 mg per week only. No sides and photos speak for themselves

No need to say that the before photo was an improvement on my baseline but can't find photos of it
Wait, is the second picture a before picture? The first picture is very much improved from the second, so I'm assuming that's what you meant.

Nope first picture is the "before" despite having some regrowth happening there too. Overall I am better rn

I also thought that. No disrespect Sonic, but either you are very slow receder or you do not have hairloss to begin with. I don't see improvement in the after picture, but in fact a very little hair loss.

Wow! This guy is using at least 100 times weekly dosage than the people on discord, and is still getting no sides.
dude the guy even uses 1.5mm dermapen and apply dutasteride afterwards, it 100% will go systemic from my own experience. heck 1.5mm and applying 5mg of dutasteride gave me nipple pain on both my nipples that lasted for hours. dont have any nipple pain on 1mg oral dutasteride even. so the guy has alot of dutasteride in his system not just his scalp trust me.

I've heard mentions on here about libido changes due to free test rising on various drugs. Do people realise that on finasteride free testosterone is reduced along with DHT? There was a thread on this forum showing a study on this where all subjects has significantly lowered free test. But most were able to tolerate it without showing 'sides'. I think everyone should get before and after blood work done before experimenting with any of these topicals..the aim should be to find something that works to lower DHT on the scalp/halt or improve hair loss but not lower systemic male hormones like free test and DHT, moving them away from the 'ideal' level. I know many will say that DHT is a 'trash hormone' (I personally disagree) but if those studies are correct then I don't think anyone can say it about free test.

I've heard people mention getting sides from both CB and fluridil recently. From people really certain that those drugs were the cause too. It would be really good to see blood work to find out if systemic hormones actually do get lowered causing this. Same for topical dutasteride...people say the molecule size is larger so it won't get so systemic..well let's test that and get blood levels checked. The guessing based on whether side effects are felt just doesn't make much sense to me. The only way to find something which hits the sweet spot of benefits to hair without systemic effect is by taking hormone measurements.

They do go systemic at high enough doses. There is a reason that pregnant women are not supposed to handle dutasteride pills without gloves.

Agree with you on the rest - bloodwork is the only way to see the systemic DHT reduction, because it is entirely subjective feeling eitherwise. The problem then becomes - is scalp DHT being inhibited enough, if systemic DHT is not? The only way to tell that is with a scalp biopsy.

I would have thought that would be the case (regarding your first para). I guess the question is whether there are doses of either topical finasteride or topical dutasteride which are small enough to either barely alter DHT/free test/estrogen levels or to not alter them at all. I don't really expect people to go getting scalp biopsies (hey unless they're really committed to the cause), but perhaps after 3 months people might see some visual changes in their hair which tells us that the benefits are there despite little or no systemic change in the body. Something like that would be ideal if we could find it.

And same for when people CB and fluridil. It would be great to have reassurance that the limited studies done are accurate in suggesting that systemic hormone levels aren't affected. I really feel that blood work should be the first thing anyone does when they get on any of these hair loss meds. It would provide both them and all of us with valuable information.

Hi all,

I have never done any hair treatments but am considering getting started on something. I'm concerned about side effects of oral finasteride / dutasteride so I'm looking into starting on topical dutasteride with the solution sold by FUE Clinic (0.1%). I have a few questions:

Should you expect shedding on topical dutasteride? If so how long might that last before growing better hair? Just wondering if I'm going to look worse for a while.

Believe me, I want to be wrong here. I just shared my view from what I studied in the pictures.

I would literally be glad to hear more stories about topical dutasteride success.

I'm 3 months into oral duta and used topical for 2 months now just oral for now but I'm shedding more hair than ever. Like 30 to 35 hairs in shower and today was a record I lost 54. I'm losing many thick hairs not just thin. Could be a normal shedding cause of my hormones are different and hair just resets itself I don't know but I can say that I was shedding alot less when I was on topical minoxidill with alfadratiol and spironolactone. I don't know if I should maybe just use topical dutasteride. Or use topical and oral. Or just stay with oral. Hard decisions here.

I am soon closing one year into oral Finasteride and I am using topical as well (>1 year). It's been 2 months now that I am shedding more and in general, despite the sheds, which can easily vary through the days, my hair are feeling weaker/thinned out of sudden. I really don't know if Finasteride is wearing off so early to me(or my agressive baldness is deteriorating Finasteride effect. It's a maze of hypotheses and I really can't make a clear conclusion/assumption. I mean could be a shedding phase? Could be my assumption? And goes on..). I am thinking of Topical dutasteride. Although, like I mentioned, Scalp Testosterone is one of the most worrisome parts regarding dutasteride usage…

(My previous post)
I believe that one of the most worrisome parts, regarding Dutasteride, is the huge increase to scalp Testosterone->http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.319.7620&rep=rep1&type=pdf

“Scalp testosterone levels significantly increased in all active treatment groups compared with placebo, increasing by 23%, 39%, 99%, and 222% with 0.05-, 0.1-, 0.5 and 2.5-mg dutasteride, respectively, and 23% with finasteride.”

“ Scalp DHT concentrations in the dutasteride groups were also significantly suppressed compared with placebo in a dose-related manner. As with serum DHT, the 0.1-mg dutasteride and finasteride groups showed a comparable degree of scalp DHT suppression (32% and 41%, respectively). Scalp DHT decreased by 51% with 0.5-mg dutasteride and by 79% with 2.5-mg dutasteride.”

(It's about the oral route, but I guess topical, would yield the same effect? And even if T it’s not binding as strong as DHT to the AR receptor, this huge rise is still scary. Maybe if it’s used once a week, due to the great half-life, it would be possible to avoid these spikes on scalp T.)

Yes, 0.5mg dutasteride increases scalp T by 104% and while the weaker androgen it should be dealt with, RU might be a good option if you are not comfortable taking an oral AA.

U mean topical or oral increases scalp dht? Which method increases more scalp T? Won't scalp T be even higher if you use oral dutasteride and topical at the same time? Cause u will just have t in the blood and also t in the scalp. Are you using oral dutasteride?
