After long prolonging, cutting down my hair, letting it grow again, using some of those will help you regrow your hair/will make your hair thicker shampoos, taking vitamins B, D..., but not going to dermatologist, I have finally decided to go visit one. Before that I have decided to go and cut my hair once again, and will probably buzz it this time, 'coz this things definitely looking nasty, and I hate to admit it is definitely not some of those self-repairing situations....

No, but seriously, I've checked my iron, so the only thing I can ACTUALLY rule out is iron deficiency hair loss here. And I'm using some natural shampoo for greasy scalp. And was taking both vitamin d and b complex.

@fatelephant, you see sometimes it's not a BDD case. This guy is going bald.
And so am I!

No, BDD is not always the case. But damn if there isn't a ridiculously large number of them on this forum (and reddit, etc.). It's a little bit absurd and it's also dangerous when they're self-medicating with drugs they bought from some chemist on the Internet without prescription.

The responsible thing to do really is to call it out.

Having BDD doesn't mean that you're not going bald though. I think most who post here are starting to go bald, they have just noticed it really early and it looks way worse to them than to us.
Never said it meant that. @fatelephant is implying we have too many BDD cases but I already said they just are forming a mature hairline which is understandable to be concerned.

Ok, kinda recap here. I've been noticing some hair thinning since 2018. Although back than it, apparently was "nothing to worry about" and, yes, with passing of time it appeared to have gotten a bit better. And that's what I thought, the actual reason for it looking "better" is probably because at that time I was growing out my hair (haven't had a haircut from like august 2016. to like April 2021.).

I've had this itchy, greasy scalp problem, for as long as I remember (since I was around the age of 14-15, and I am 26 now, turning 27 in september), and was recommended to use ph neutral shampoos, and was told that "it's pretty normal, you are too young, just live with it, wash your hair regularly...etc etc"
Which I did (I usually wash my hair every 2, every 3 days TOPS). My hair's definitely been shedding more than it should or maybe it's not, I'll see around 250-350 hairs in my shower drain when I wash it. It depends on how greasy/dirty it was, like was I sweating a lot, did I wash it like 2 days ago, 3 days ago...other than that I'll see/lose maybe like 5-10 hairs daily while combing/brushing it, or will see no more than 3-4 hairs on pillowcase in the morning. Lately I've started to shed on the back of the head, behind the ears, like I don't even have to pull my hair, some hair will just come off if I go through it with my fingers. Also whenever my hair starts feeling dirty I'll get this itchy/burning/tingling sensation, for which, again I was told time and time again that (it's completely normal).

2nd thing, I was just recently checking some older photos, some dating back to like 2010. I honestly I would argue that changes in my hairline from back then (14-15 years old) to now, are minuscule to none.
I would have checked even older photos, but I don't think anyones hairline is maturing/receding when they are like 12 or younger...

So other than this thinning on top, there are no other VISIBLE cases of me balding.

Since the first time I got here, I've used this forum, mainly to get some insight on how my hair looks to someone that has gone/is going through same or similar problem, and I finally pluck up courage to come to conclusion, that yes, something bad is definitely happening to my hair (I'm losing it) and to finally go to dermatologist, and not live in constant anxiety and fear of potentially losing it all, or living in a false hope that "oh it's telogen effluvium, oh it's chronic telogen effluvium, or it's vitamin deficiency, oh, I'm at that point in my life where I'm kinda stressed, oh, it will grow back on its own..." Without actually getting it checked by a professional.

You need finasteride and minoxidil. Shampoos and supplements are useless without strong medication for someone who is balding aggressively.

What exactly does "balding aggressively" mean? Is it time related. Because I've stated that my situation hasn't improved, obviously, but hasn't worsened in almost 4 full years now.

Look at it this way... You already have a bald spot and a comb over. What do you think will happen in 14 years? You need to take action.

Fun fact: I was, pretty much a buzz cut kid, until I was 10-11, having it cut to a buzz cut once or twice since, but never, not even during my childhood was it this short, this is most likely the shortest my hair has ever been.

Your haircut looks good. Not sure I'd call that a "buzz cut" though, just looks like a short haircut. What is it - no.6 or something? ;) Do it like No.3 at most. It will grow quickly if you don't like it.

Quick update:

Dear God, finally I should get my appointment at dermatologist, hopefully sometimes during next week. And apparently its a good one, the one recommended to me by a person I trust on this matter.

And on another note, I'm shedding far, far less hair, like I know that my hair is (currently) a bit over inch long, but losing around 20-30 hairs daily is big improvement (to me at least) to my usual hair shedding that was around 120-150 on a daily basis.

Finally went to dermatologist.

So, yeah, it is genetics lol, apparently my hair is still in a rather good condition, given that she was hesitant to even prescribe me minoxidil. In the end she told me to keep using alpecin shampoo and to apply 5% minoxidil twice a day, and to see how it goes.
