I find taking Finasteride to be extremely terrifying because you can never tell how your hair will react to being on it or if it will attack back aggressively if you decide to stop taking it.

Everything is down to hormones and how they regulate hairloss so if your hormones don't respond well then there might be no going back :(

I am currently in an anxiously scared emotional state of trying to figure out if continuing to take it is a good idea.

Its been just over a week and along with an itch i think i might be shedding today because i have noticed alot of hair falling on my desk when i brush my hand through my hair.

If you decide to take it, good luck :(
Neddy, what ive found strange about my own person results with finasteride is before treatment i shed about 150 - 200 hairs a day with slow recession, when i started finasteride it dropped to 100 sometimes 150, but the diameter of the hair strand thinned significantly, and caused rapid recession. Even now that ive, added in oral minoxidil and i am mildly shedding my average hair fall count is in the pre treatment range but closer to 200. Isn't that weird?

I have never actually been a huge shredder so when i see alot of hair fall it usually stands out as odd for me.

First post, but I think my story is relevant. I took finasteride for 5 years. Started in 2012. I was 25 at the time. In that 5 years, the side effects have ranged from benign to f*****g scary. The first side effect, (which is not advertised) is the quality of sleep. When I was undergoing training for TBS in the USMC, I had a streak of days where I had horrible insomnia. I didn't link it to the drug then, just figured stuff was weird, until it made its awful and reoccurring appearances. Keep in mind, the training we do in Quantico is beyond taxing, yet this rat poison finasteride was strong enough to keep me awake for 3 consecutive days during one episode.

How was your insomnia? Did you couldn't sleep for weeks or just a few days? It was constant on your routine? After you go to the bed, did you couldn't just close your eyes and sleep or you kept waking up at night? Did you feel sleepy during the day?

Let me also point out this: if you are prone to finasteride sides, nothing can mitigate them once they get going. It only gets worse as the time goes by. Take me for example:
31 now, 6' 220 lbs. I'm a Marine Corps Officer who trains 6 times a week. I squat 500 lbs and run/swim/bike, in that order, every week. I also have done PE for my c***. Manual Jelqing, stretching, etc. This stuff works and does increase your eq/c*** size. All of this didn't amount to sh*t with finasteride. It completely nullified all of those potential stop-gap measures to prevent ED. Yohimbe didn't work, Maca didn't work, Agmatine and L-Arginine, test boosters didn't work. Nothing. If these sides strike you, good luck Chuck is all I'm going to say.
Also, at first finasteride did in fact make a positive impact on my sexual performance, but that was due to increased Test levels. That too, reversed course and took a turn for the worse. I had literally every single positive measure you could have to mitigate the potential negative effects of finasteride and it still drowned me in sides, the way IRMA drowned the Caribbean.
This is what I fking mean I was so close to buying finasteride but after your comment back to square one.

Analysis paralysis is a very easy trap to fall into too. I wouldnt over think it. Most likely you will start taking it, and nothing will really change. A year later you notice your hair is a little thicker. First treatment to use according to american hair loss association is propecia.
Without propecia you may as well let nature run its course like they did a hundred years ago because propecia is the only reason anyone gets a choice whether they want to go bald or not.

For me il be honest i only been on it nearly 2 weeks and i am already terrified every day.

I get a fair amount of extra Anxiety daily and i dunno whether its due to the finasteride or just natural hair loss stress.

I get an itch in the thinning areas (which are still thinning and i feel it might have sped up a little) and that worries me big time since i never had this itch before.

Yesterday i decided to try groganic ice hair oil which contains saw palmetto and is meant to help with scalp itch... well i tried it and man my libido suddenly shot up within half hour, my anxiety lessened but it didn't stop the itch... which i find that so odd

I just dunno what Finasteride is doing to me at all

Guys just to give you some perspective, most users who are doing fine on the drug feel no need to reassure members on anything. Although those who do have bad sides are on a mission to let people know the "dangers" of the drug, which in turn causes them to be a lot more vocal.

Realistically 99% of people who take this drug and experience side effects return to normal after discontinuing the drug, the risk your taking is only temporary.

Either way most of you will end up trying the drug, whether your scared now or not, your hair will reach a certain point and most of you will say "f*** it" and give finasteride a fair shot at salvaging what you have, whether you experience sides is up to your body's physiology, but it's worth a shot WHILE you have salvageable hair . Try the drug before it's too late for your hair is my advice, because it's very likely you will try it anyways once your hair gets worse.

The way i had it described to me was that Finasteride hormonal wise turns you into a women... and women do not get erections so alot of your bodies energy is not going down there.

I gather this isn't the case for everyone though since everyone is different and so might be able to adapt to the drug better than others.

Yes, but i always think that if i go bald, i can still wear a hair piece and with my dick working..

If you get sexual side effects you can stop and they go away and you can then continue to wear a piece with a fully functional c***.

Guys stop making it sound like every person who gets side effects gets PFS. I personally haven't had any this time around, been on and off the drug at least 5 times
Now some willingly some unwillingly, never felt that famous crash everyone speaks of. This time around I'm 12 months in and my c*** works just fine, libido is up and down but I've always had hornier days than others

I have friends who don't have any, some who had to get off the drug due to them, everyone's all good in the end. Pfs is super rare and shouldn't even be factored into your risk imo

So what size shall I purchase? What is the safest and effective amount?

I would just say there is no right or wrong decision on whether you should try finasteride or not. I think not taking it, and maybe just living with it in hopes a new treatment comes out that is safer is a very viable choice. Yes you might lose hair, but that is not the end of the world. The drug does carry some real risks

If you're trying to be pre cautious with the drug I'd do 2 weeks at .25mg, another 2 at .5 and adjust to 1 if you feel all is going well, many people have success on .5 and also some claim to have negated the sides that they experienced when taking the full 1mg dose.
