Nothing to see here, move along. It's all on Tsuji and Tissuse to save us.

interesting to see, that the lowest dose is the most efficient of the three doses, maybe there it is still a question about if they have actually found the optimal dose.

Also they should have more data for their 2 year follow up after the trail. It just shows it works, but for how long does it work.

But a one year treatment isn't that bad. People got botox much more often and other beauty treatments. But if there is a need for an biopsy every time then it isn't the best of course. Unless they can keep cultivate the cells they already have.

It would be interesting to know if they plan to move forward with this therapy. I can imagine this having an appealing sales edge - hypothetically, you can prevent further hair loss without oral or topical medications and require only 6-12m maintenance. I guess there are 2 key hurdles:
1. Will they hold onto cultivated samples between treatments? We do not want to undergo a biopsy every time we have a treatment, but we are unsure of whether their long-term storage techniques reduce the quality of the dermal cells
2. Will they continue to phase III trials? The fact this can only be done in Japan is a huge limiting factor if the treatment does require 6-12m ongoing treatments. However, if it in the future it could be done in many major cities, then it would be very appealing

It is still another treatment that would be game-changing for people who aren't already bald, so it would be a shame to cast it aside so quickly. It would be interesting to hear from the business end of Sisheido in response to their science

On the flip side, this is kind of exactly what the drug companies are looking for. Repeat business. A one and done cure is never as desirable as something that keeps people coming back time and time again. Only works for three months? Great, sign me up. I’ll keep going back. But it HAS to work first. If I’m Shiseido, AND this works, AND it keeps people coming back, win. all day

This could be HUGE, if injections every 3-6 months keep producing results - good maintenance cure.

One problem as they describe in the study, the possibility of a collection of dead cells.

People cannot be arsed to take a pill once daily or thrice weekly or spritz some minoxidil on their heads once a day.

Those same people sure as hell aren't going to pay a whooole lot more money, every 9 months. If it needs a biopsy each time, then there is no way they will release this as it will not be sustainable to patients. There goes your repeat business.

Not sure what the discrepancy between Shiseido's sustainability and RepliCel's first trial is, but what I can say for sure is if they can't get back the sustained results, this is dead as a fuckin' doornail.

finasteride, Follica, transpant and piece — those are the choices.

Correct. Which is why I said it has to work, first. But if they can culture enough cells for repeat business, hell there’s plenty that would line up. Men and women get their faces stabbed, filled, routinely, at a high price than that.

Temporary increase eh... nvm then. Not sure if i've understood the pictures right but that looks like basically 0 change.

Yes, I looked at the male picture for 10 minutes and I spotted a single new hair at best. A bit confusing.

At this point, I would give my left nut for something that can maintain hair without f*****g with my hormones (I know that's an oxymoron), even if I have to repeat it every year.

Finally some news.

Tbh, sign me the fck up for a sideless maintenance therapy even if it only worked for 9 months

And read the article, still a lot of conjecture.

Anyway, positive news imo. (we also know it's not dead)

But get this, Pigeon. For the procedure you have to remove healthy hair from your donor, hair you will never get back. So in the end you might lose more than without any treatment.

Can I just point out that it's very likely not a new biopsy every time. The treatment concentration was a 6-fold dilution of the original suspension so with adequate frozen storage a single biopsy session would last a very long time.

Was definitely hoping they'd cover more ground in this study though, this means commercialisation is very unlikely for years and years to come.

Bit confused. Am i right in thinking you would maintain your hair if you kept going back every 9 months? Because if that's the case.. for me who gets sides off saw palmetto yet alone finasteride, that may be my only option.

Nothing to see here my friend. Even if you hit statistical sweet spot (Norwood 3-4, male over 51, 9 months peak) you'll get something about 6 hair/cm2. At least we can put this to rest. It will be intresting to see how will UK's HairClone react to this, since they're trying to do the same thing basically.

What did they really expect?
SC cells are NOT stem cells.
They don't live forever.
They could try injections every six months, though.
I'm confident that would have yielded more satisfactory results.
But what do I know?
Just a dermatologist...

I don't understand how this is super expensive if it can be done at a clinic near you. Girls spend 100's of dollars on make-up per month and we can't dish out a bit on our hair?

It is what it is.
