Hello, I've scoured the board pretty good the last couple weeks. I just realized I was thinning. I was told by a hairdresser a couple years ago, but I figured she was just trying to sell me the thickening shampoo. Well, I looked with a handmirror under a sun light and noticed the thinning in the crown. My hairline isn't bad, but I see some recession on one side in particular -- perhaps because the way I used to comb it?? perhaps a cowlick (sp?)? or are uneven sides common?
Well, I just decided to buzz it - but I decided it looked worse -- I then noticed some diffusing across the vertex. Then I just said F--- it, and shaved it all the way down. I think that's the way to go -- just shave it, the look is becoming pretty popular, very modern. Luckily I have a decent shaped head. So far, I've been told I look like that old magnetic toy where you move the iron shavings around a face w/ a magnet, Billy Corgan, and Hunter S. Thompson (w/ a shaved head). I work in a highly competive corporate environment, so adjusting w/ 270 impressions was the biggest struggle. Everyone has to say something, right? A lot of "whys," perhaps because I had the appearence of a great head of hair unless you stood over the top under light.. I'm 6'1", so not that many people would catch it.
Anyway -- started Propecia on AUG 27th, 1 mg, and will likely continue. I'm a little concerned about the acne side effect, as I've been prone (and still am) to break outs. I'm wearing BP 10% mixed w/ lotion at night to minimize bacterial activity.
Well, now to the benefit of the shaved head while on finasteride --. Shed's, won't see them. 2ndly, I will be able to monitor progress a little easier by letting my hair grow out a week or so, then looking, versus looking every day. I want to get some pics going, but just moved and need to find my camera.
wish me luck,
