what is that? Stemoxydine?
Yes, but in gel form.
I also have minoxidil GEL from... follisomething but it is crazy because it is actual GEL FOR HAIR, it does not dry up.

They're not the same process.

From what I understand, S5 Plus is weak, but it may have potential in combination therapy.

Man I'm starting to wonder if I should throw a topical anti-androgen into my regimen

Despite my success, the idea of actively balding again terrifies me, and I'm contemplating if this would be a worthwhile extra preventative measure

But the philosophy that someone should be on the minimum AA that is maintaining their hair also makes sense to me from a long term physiological stand point

Man I will have to think about this

If you are on orals and its working...isn't it like over kill to add topical?

I think if you would take dutasteride from start you would maintain more and longer, rather than finasteride and when loosing its effect switch to dutasteride. But very interesting topic it would be androgen up-regulation vs accumulation of androgenetic effect.

Probably, yeah it might be completely unnecessary, but it's an angle I don't have covered in my regimen, and I was thinking about it as an extra preventative measure

I didn't want to cut off that much of my dht right off the bat if it wasn't necessary, although I am more than prepared to in the future if I start losing ground again, as even a minor amount of hair loss had significant quality of life effects on my social, emotional, and mental health.

That is a good question though to which I have no idea the answer to
@David_MPN ? We need some scientists here

Honestly if you're not seeing any signs of your hair worsening I'd personally wait till I notice any to hit male pattern baldness from another angle. This is a lifelong fight and we should save alternative options for when our current ones aren't working.

I would definitely wait until you've reached equilibrium from finasteride prior to deciding whether or not proceed further. You want to see if that's satisfactory (or not) before proceeding further. You also need to know what finasteride can do for you, so that you have a baseline and you actually know if the additional treatment is helping, as opposed to just getting incremental regrowth from finasteride.

Personally, my situation is that my hair is adequate but I think I'd benefit from slightly better hair, so that's why I'm looking at S5 cream. I know that @Admin is pro-S5, and I trust his judgment.

Here's what they have to say about S5 Plus:

Note that I can't track down where they wrote that spironolactone tackles hair loss from three different angles.

I think i wrote that. Sounds familiar. Though Im sure I'd never be able to find it either :) In my brain (correct or not), the logic was:

1) Antiandrogen (finasteride)
2) Androgen Blocker (spironolactone)
3) Growth Stimulant

So you can be on Finasteride and Spironolactone would still be an "angle" you're not hitting. Finasteride inhibits formation of DHT, but spironolactone blocks androgen receptors. So a good combo.

I can already hear Bryan Shelton screaming from the grave: "That's not technically correct and here's why!" but its possible he'd be agreeing with me this time :)

The S5 cream seems interesting but can it be used in combination with minoxidil?
