Noticed hair loss about 2 months ago, panicked and freaked out. Went to to a hair transplant specialist in my city. Assessed my head and said I need to go on Propecia to stabilize the loss and that I would have good success. Told me to take it for a year and to reassess a year later in regards to a transplant.

I of course had heard of the horror stories regarding Propecia. But my hair is important to me and I wanted to save it at all costs. The surgeon assured me side effects were rare and to just stop taking it if I had any.

I took it for a month. Noticed side effects about the 4th week in. Severe fatigue and lethargy, ED, as well as confusion brain fog and memory issues. It scared the sh*t out of me.

I stopped the drug and about a week later the symptoms got worse. I had a complete endocrine system crash about 2 weeks off the drug.

I am suffering from extreme anxiety, panic attacks, bone crippling depression, memory loss, confusion, severe fatigue, complete erectile dysfunction. A complete cognitive shift.

I had to go to ER due to the panic attacks and brain fog.

I am praying these symptoms improve with time and that I didn't permanently f*** myself over.

This drug completely fucked me up, I feel like a complete vegetable. I can barely function. I had blood work done and had severely elevated liver enzymes as well as low Testosterone. I am waiting to see an Endocrinologist to do further hormone testing.

I honestly could give 2 fucks about my hair if I have permanently damaged myself.

This drug can seriously mess you up.

Has anybody had a similar experience and recovered???

Any help at all is appreciated. I am freaking out.

How long did you take the drug for? Are your symptoms improving? I literally cannot function.

i took the drug for about 3.5 weeks, i would say i'm about 70% healed, my ED is gone and my libido is back which took about 3 weeks for that to recover. the anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, & depression still linger but not as severe as the first couple of weeks, i had one severe panic attack and it was scary i know how you feel which it looks like you are going through now. Positive thinking will help you get through this. I read online to lay off caffeine, alcohol and junk foods try to stay hydrated as much as possible and again think positive. it's nice to know i'm not alone in this either

This is to anyone who says side effects are rare and stop once you stop taking the medication.

My sides have not gone away, I am experiencing debilitating brain fog, confusion, memory loss, slurring of words, extreme panic and anxiety 24/7 and total erectile function.

Been to 2 different Endocrinologists and they can't figure out what is wrong.

TRT has made no improvement. Have tried Clomid with no improvement.

This drug has destroyed my brain and my cognitive function.

Thousands of other men are suffering the same thing. And many have taken their lives because the symptoms are debilitating.

I am on the verge of losing my job because of this.

Consider this a fair warning to all of you.

This drug can destroy your life if you end up crashing.

I'd do anything to be bald and have my cognitive function back.

You are playing Russian Roulette with your life taking this toxic poison.

mike you need to try cdnuts protocol. have you heard of him? he took finasteride for 7/8 years and had all the sides. he managed to get himself back to normal.

look him up at swolesource.com. there is a post finasteride syndrome section where guys have threads detailing their progress using his protocol to get better.

I will be doing this soon myself. propeciahelp is useless. solvepfs is useless. everyone seems to try lots of things to get better but they don't. but the guys trying cdnuts protocol ARE getting better. but it is not easy. you have to do a lot of different things at the same time and stayed disciplined with it for long time. 6 months, a year, two years maybe 3. it depends how fucked up your body is.

it resolves around cleansing your gut and living a very healthy lifestyle until your body balances itself out again. Eating a specific diet, weight training and herb supplementation to boost testosterone.

you have nothing to lose by trying this. doctors are useless. there is no magic pill. go have a look. go find his protocol and try it.

To be honest I am one of those who stopped for a while (I thought I did not need it anymore after a hair transplant) and the minor inconveniences (sexual function related) totally disappeared in a few weeks.

Sorry this is happening to you.

However I would not say this is a toxic drug as it has helped millions of men with the plague of BPH (including members of my family). Then it started being used for "vanity" and of course it became unacceptable and dangerous and the devil.

Just looked up the cdnuts protocol out of curiousity. It looks quite hardcore. So basically once you're on the cdnuts protocol you can pretty much say goodbye to your hair at the hope of regaining back manhood ? Just briefly reading the protocol it seems like if I were to attempt that I would become more of a man than I ever used to be, but at the sake of pretty much losing my remaining hair. I'm feel like I'm not there yet, but I'm getting closer and closer to the f*** the hair and just give me good cognitive ability, and being able to act like a man, luckily my erection quality and libido are getting better, perhaps tha thanks to jelqing and kegels.

he personally went hardcore. he did crazy sh*t like go on 28 day water fast or something in a clinic. multiple times lol. but the guideline for people to follow isn't as extreme as that. from what ive read this guy was seriously fucked up. he took it for 7 years. op only took it for a month or something. im sure if he tried the protocol for 6 months he would be back to normal, or at least in much better shape.

go on a juice fast for two weeks, eat healthily, lift weights, rotate herb supplements, and maybe dht prohomes later if you need them. that's the basics of it I think. I haven't looked at it in a while.

and yes your are right about feeling like a man. ive read a lot of that with people using his protocol. that is why cdnuts is active on bodybuilding forums. the guy only started lifting weights to help him get rid of pfs. now its a lifestyle. hitting the weights, eating right, using those prohormones to boost dht. YOU FEEL ALPHA AS f***. and they love it.

not only are have these guys cured themselves of pfs, but they are in better shape then ever before in every way. mentally, phyisically etc.

and yes he is a baldy now. but he couldn't care less. the guy was a mess for years. now he feels amazing. he couldn't give a sh*t about hairloss anymore. would you if your dick stopped working, you couldn't function properly at work, and had zero emotions whatsoever. f*** hair man. I mean Id like my hair back for sure, but nowhere near as much as my masculinity.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Even though I'm not suffering any sides( so far) I feel very conflicted about taking finasteride long term. Rationally, suppressing a vital male hormone - one that is not even fully understood- seems foolhardy and dangerous to me. I plan to get a hair transplant in about a year and I hope better treatments pan out; even if they don't, I don't see myself taking finasteride indefinitely.

it is a weird situation. I guess it depends where your coming from. when your suffering from bph perhaps some minor sexual sides are acceptable. when you are 25 years old and heatlhy they are not. plus the guys taking finasteride for bph tend to be an older crowd who are probably suffering from low testosterone anyway due to age. less energy, less sex drive etc etc. so they may not even notice side effects if they did get them.

the younger guys taking finasteride for hairloss have a different hormone profile. our testosterone is high, so it makes sense the younger guys to get sides and the older ones dont. or at least not notice them

hence the bad publicity about finasteride once it became a hairloss drug

personally for me this drug was toxic as hell. it fucked me up good. it was great for my hair, bad for everything else. EVERYTHING ELSE. just like thousands and thousands of others. f*****g evil drug. poison

this is why hair transplants are so f*****g dodgy. lots of guys take finasteride to preserve the hair they have left before getting surgery. what happens in the future if you do get side effects? YOU ARE FUCKED. especially if youve had fut. do you keep taking the drug or stop it, go bald and show the world a big smiley face on the back of your head

and fue? you can shave it down sure, and the donor area will probably look ok, but what about the ugly pluggy roots planted across the front of your head? then what?

I hope better treatments do come out. for all our sakes

Completely understand the sh*t sandwich we are all dealing with....took finasteride for close to 15 years, completely fucked me up.
Here is a list I put together of sh*t I was dealing with:
Hypothroidism
Slow Metabolism
Could not Sleep- bad bags under eyes
No Energy
Attitude - shitty lazy weak attitude
Urinary issues
Libido
Brain fog
Decision making - couldn't make a damn decision
Confidence
Bloated fat face not sharp or hard
Anxiety- would constantly have arm pit sweat.

I have been off for two years now and lost significant hair but feel much better....it's such a hard decision. I actually feel like a man again and for those young guys it took a while on finasteride before I had sides but as I got older (40 now) the sides became very pronounced.

I'm about to lose my job over this.

I feel suicidal everyday. I regret the day I ever took the first pill.

Hopefully I do recover knowing I only took it for 4 weeks.

My life is a living hell.

This drug can induce a severe depression.

15 years! holy sh*t. did you do anything to help your recovery or what it just time?

this is the thing about finasteride, the sides can slowly creep on you without knowing. thats what happened to me. and what about the guys whove had hair transplants, what the f*** are they meant to do now??

ive read countless of posts from guys in their 30s and 40s who thought the way they felt was just because they were getting older. tired, no sex drive, depression etc etc. its not until they get off the drug they realise its the f*****g finasteride they've been swallowing for years. this sh*t is poison to young guys, simple as that.

people think before taking the drug that its only a little bit of sex drive you might lose... 'ahhh that's ok, I could lose abit of libido anyway, no worries'. 'who cares about morning wood, its annoying anyway'....blah blah. but its more than that, its your who f*****g personality, your masculinity. everything changes. you lose your emotions, your brain doesn't function properly, you feel like dog sh*t. its so much more than just 'sex drive'.

I looked it up. I'm about to start a long juice fast.

I would spend a few days really researching this before jumping into it. you have to be very disciplined. I would spend a little bit of time detailing a plan of action and get yourself in the right frame of mind to really go for it. you have to get the proper foods, proper herbs etc. i would get it all planned out exactly what you are gonna do for the next 6 months and be committed to it.

you have to do a lot of things and do them for a while and be consistent. no more booze, no sh*t food. nothing. no cheats. do have some holiday time coming up with Christmas? maybe spend that time coming up with your plan and start it next year. do have any Christmas parties to go to? get that sh*t out of the way. enjoy the booze and pizza etc then go for it properly next year.
