My switch to dutasteride 2 years ago was a failure, especially in the frontal area. I had better hair before the switch. I'm going back to taking finasteride everyday, but I dont want to totally ditch dutasteride just yet, so I'm adding 0.5 mg of dutasteride on every Sunday.

There is a successful case report of adding a low dose of dutasteride in his finasteride regimen, so that's what I'm going to try before totally ditch dutasteride.

I dont know why taking dutasteride everyday didnt yeild good result, and why would adding a low dose of dutasteride would be better than taking it everyday, but I'm going to try anyway.

Has anyone tried this regimen?

It is a common complaint of dutasteride. It makes no sense but for some dutasteride can really ruin their hairline, even finasteride is doing the same to mine and i have pics to compare. However since being on loniten im begining to regrow that lost hair :)

I am on the same regimen. 1mg finasteride every day. with 0.5mg dutasteride every wednesday. It's been 2 months. I feel my front thinning, no other noticeable differences besides the slight brain fog the day I take it + increase libido. Going to stick with it for 6 months.

Loniten is Minoxidil in oral form, correct? Isn't it used to treat high blood pressure? I've been on finasteride for over 12 years and dutasteride over 2 years without any health problem, so I know taking 5ar inhibitors long term is very safe, and will be doing so for the next 20 years.

But I can't say the same with Loniten. I'm afraid taking Loniten for a year or 2 and then I had to drop it, my hair will then start to fall. That's the reason I don't want to start some alternative treatments. How long have you been taking loniten? And does it really help your hair loss a great deal?

I experience high libido while taking dutasteride as well! But for your front thinning, did you experience front thinning before taking dutasteride once a week? So it seems even once a week, dutasteride will still affect the frontal area??

I believe it was already slowly thinning. Finasteride wasn't holding up like it did the 2 years prior. Hence why I wanted to add dutasteride. I tried every day but the brain fog was too much; I can tolerate once a week. This could of been just my natural occurrence. To be honest it hasn't been drastic enough to point me one way or the other. Just gonna wait the next few months out and see where I land then reevaluate.

Add a topical formula like finesteride topical.

Have you seen any reports where someone on oral finasteride added topical finasteride and then saw better results? Wonder if this can be possible?

I've been on oral Finasteride for 21 months (still going); I switched from Minoxidil 12% to Minoxidil15%+0.1% Finasteride(topical) since roughly 6 months ago and so far have not noticed any added benefits.
I suppose I have pretty much reached the full potential of what oral Finateride could achieve (most people indicated 2 years), so perhaps any further addition (topical or oral) is only going to maintain if I'm lucky?

Thanks for sharing that. I am wondering if the rumor about Merck getting a topical version of finasteride FDA approved is not really a rumor.

Anyone else have success with Finasteride daily and adding 0.5mg dutasteride once a week?

I had front thinning on dutasteride 0.5mg every day ... and my hair came back when I went to 1mg-2mg dutasteride ... But it costed my libido (very high with "only" 0.5mg).
High dose dutasteride is the most effective cure against Hair loss ... a lot more effective than cyproterone/bicalutamide +estradiol (I tried) ... that's why a lot of MTF Trans still use anti-DHT (sometimes even dutasteride) with their AA regimen.
If you take Loniten (oral minoxidil) your heart may suffer in the long terme use, and you may be forced to stop it, and you could lose all your gains. That's not a little candy. I decided to take that risk ... and often I think it was a bad idea to start oral minoxidil, and now I'm too afraid to stop, and afraid to still use it. If you can avoid it you shouldn't take this strong drug. Even topically.
