Because I already have a full head of hair the dark colour doesn't bother me because it's hidden in the hair. It actually helps hide the thinner areas. On top of that I love how it gets stiff when it dries which is why it is the antidote to the greasiness of Minoxidil. So for me it's has multiple benefits
Jambap when you apply the betadine then the minoxidil do you wash it out before you reapply them the next day ?

Nah, just apply it again. But I'm not encouraging that nor discouraging it. I just know that for me if I make my regimen too cumbersome I can't maintain for the long term. So I just do what seems safe enough and not too inconvenient. But then everyone's got their personal habits. But the success I've experienced is doing it like this, so do with that as you wish.

Hey Jambap / JWM - I'm the poster formerly known as Troymaclure (couldn't login under that name here, forgot my details). Anyway, I was really chuffed to see you guys posting on here, and reminiscing about the old days - I don't think I could have got through those times without you all.

Jambap how has the Zix been working out for you?
Hi Troy! How have you been? Definitely miss the good old days. How has your hair been holding up?

Like you, I could always be doing better, but for a guy that is now 50, I still have a decent head of hair. For the past few years, I'd say my regimen has been pretty basic. Minoxidil 1-2 x a day, and 2.5 mgs of Finasteride a day. If I'm not too tired, I try to use minoxidil liquid (about 2 mls) on a hydrated scalp to increase absorption. If I'm feeling lazy, I'll use the foam.

I tried adding 1 pill of dutasteride a week to my existing finasteride (some have reported success with this), but I never really gave it enough time to see if it worked. I would always chicken out if I thought my hair was getting thinner.

Also tried dermarolling (1 x a week) but was never consistent with it for the same reason above. It always seemed to make my hair look thinner. Plus I didn't love the idea of poking millions of holes in my head--I always thought I was doing more harm than good.

Also tried being consistent with 2% nizoral several times a week, but never noticed much of a difference.

So for now, it's really just been the big two. I may try dermastamping in the future (tried a pen and it tore my scalp up, and a manual riller did the same). Dermastamping seems to be the gentlest method, though it takes a while.

What about you?

Same as you really mate, pushing 50, consistent regimen - minoxidil 1 x day , 5 or 6 days a week, 5mg Fincar every other day, Nizoral 3 or 4 times a week, Zix twice a week. Been using an apply polyphenol powder in a topical for around 6 months, hard to say if its been helpful but hair quality seems better. Would like to add a cheap topical antiandrogen or 5ar inhibitor but not sure what that could be, maybe crushed up spironolactone but not sure how effective that would be.

Hey guys,

want to start with ZIX. Bought the supplies but want to make sure that I make no mistake with the Zinc part because on the internet I see quite some warning labels for Zinc sulphate Heptahydrate .
Is Zinc sulphate Heptahydrate the right ingredient for ZIX? @worm Have you been using this ingredient for over 15 years? Im thinking of adding 660mg then from the sulphate to one 60ml bottle.

Thanks guys for any feedback :)

Hi guys! I had all but given up on HairLossTalk.com - as it was down forever and I just figured the site was down permanently - it was only because I saw post on Tressless which dated from 6 months ago where someone was talking about a post on HairLossTalk.com that I thought to check again. Nice to see you @jambap - you were my inspiration to start zix back in the day, you had fantastic results - so a big thank you. I think you posted pics back on HLH, but eventually took them down. Needless to say I tinkered with my formula to what works best for me. I've actually been brewing less at a time, because it goes off after 3 or so weeks, and I find my shedding and hairloss has all but stopped. Needless to say, wonderful to see you here, 1.5 years after you posted to say hi! :)

Same with @adrob76 / Troymaclure - who may no longer be here and ofc @JWM2 who's been around basically forever.

I think it was a little over 2 years ago I added dermarolling and minoxidil. Its been a wonderful addition. My hair is thicker and darker than it's been in more than a decade. At almost 47, I have been still losing on the hairline - still very gradually. But Ive seen so many go from having more hair than me to having next to nothing. When my hair is greasy, which happens if I dont wash my hair daily (because minoxidil and zix make it greasy), my crown can look on the thin side as well. But in reality at my age, my hair is more than ideal, and better than I could have ever hoped, especially after I dropped finasteride 20 years ago.

Now that I know HairLossTalk.com is back I'll check in much more often!

@jambap BTW I cant believe you're still using ozbrew. I had major sides on that, heart palpitations, extreme fatigue and cognitive impairment, and my vision went wonky as well. I wonder if it may have had some permanent sides, for example heart palpitations, which really reared it's head when I was using it. It largely went away when I stopped, but this chest tightness rears its head every once and a while.

As for betadine, I dabbled with iodine for quite some time, I also decided it's not for me. Although I was taking it internally, I found it was affecting me cognitively.

Hey Worm - how spooky, I haven't been on this site for a few months, just popped in now and you'd just posted ! You're the same age as me, story sounds similar. I suppose 20+ years after starting treatments, i still have a reasonable head of hair for someone my age, albeit takes a while and a lot of product & styling to get it to look that way :) But yes, still slowly losing ground year on year, just something we learn to deal with.

I do still use Zix twice a week, have done for about 15 years now, and my overall regimen has never really changed in all that time. Still using minoxidil about 5 x nights per week, 5mg Finast every other day, oral MSM, Zix 2 x week (mornings, after shower) Nizoral 3 x week.

Fair play if you stopped Finasteride all that time ago and still havent really suffered as a result of it.

So you use the big 3 but think Zix makes a difference? There is no basis to believe that. Your results are from tried and tested med's. But I'm not going to tell you to stop.

Anyone just used zix with no minoxidil or finasteride and have results? If so I think you should show them.
