I love how he starts the sentence "i dont mean to be rude.'
yet he's rude enough to assume we are all blind idiots.
The origins of skepticism on this board:
1) A lot of people have been burned by hope in this past. This is well-known. Though personally I doubt there were so many leads in 2005 as there are now. It hasn't always been "five years from now", in fact people now have far more options than there were in 2000. Dutasteride, Nizoral, high-concentration minoxidil, black market RU CB and setipiprant, and better hair transplants are all new options.
2) Anti-Italian racism apparently. Obviously the cure can only come from WASPs working for a major American company !
3) Some people want to be miserable forever. Baldness is genuinely bad, but as a "positive" it does seem to give an excuse to some to wallow in misery. We see a lot of negativity of people who don't want to live life because there's no point, they're bald. If hair loss is cured, even partially, it takes away their excuse and they will need to confront their bad habits more explicitly.
