I'm open-minded about the possibility that finasteride can have these effects. But I'm just speculating, could it be that the hippocampus atrophy found in these autopsies may have developed independently of the finasteride usage? It is important to rule out other possible causes including natural age-related changes in brain structure.Explain the autopsies reports on atrophy of the hippocampus and altered levels of neurosteroids in the brains of PFS victims.
I know that finasteride does have effects on the brain, possible largely due to the fact that 5ar type 3, which finasteride potently inhibits, is known to be present in the brain tissue. So there is an element of risk for everyone taking a 5ar inhibitor. I guess it all comes down to how much each person values their hair at the expense of the known and unknown side-effects and risks.
But in your own case, you only took one pill, and it is important to take note of that fact. On this forum, we are all here to help each other, and I wanted to raise the possibility that there could be other explanations for the symptoms that you have experienced.
