Why would there be a bald Bond? Bond follows the story from books. - And in the books he has hair.
People look too deeply into things sometimes.
'OMG there'll never be bald Bond because bald in horrible!!!' - No, because it follows the books in which Bond has hair. For the same reason they'll never be a black Bond, unless it's to 'make a statement'.
[quote="s.a.f":3otrc77c]The films being made now differ immensley from the books that were written about 70yrs ago and I dont think that bonds hair is really integral to the plot of any of them. :dunno:
So S.A.F. just shot down your devil's advocate defense against the strong evidence that bald is still not acceptable, especially for a role only reserved for the best specimens the male race has to offer, the role of James Bond. You know, for someone who posts on here as much as you do, you sure have a sunny disposition when it comes to this topic of hair loss, to the point where you feel like you have to contest every testimonial lamenting lost hair. Are you not bothered by your own hair loss, hammer? Do you have hair loss? I mean, if things really aren't as bad as you say they are, then why are you even here, why do you even care? You have repeatedly proven that you are incapable of acknowledging anyone's suffering by disputing it at every turn. Oh, what your feeling isn't real. It's all in your head. You're being paranoid, reading to deeply into things. I'm beginning to get offended by your blind defense of any notion that contradicts the very real suffering that comes with hairloss. The fact remains that you will never see a bald Bond because Bond represents the ideal man and baldness (weather you can admit it or not) is still considered an unattractive, undesireable trait. So go ahead now with your empty counterpoint....[/quote:3otrc77c]
I'm not going to read all of that since I'm so hungover. But to summarise - Yes I'm bothered by my hairloss, but not the point which I'd let it ruin me. I post here a lot as currently I'm only doing part time work, so post on ALOT of forums (thisis the only hairloss one) out of boredom but I'm here with the attitude 'Since there is maybe something I could do, I may as well try' - If there would no meds and this place was simply to discuss hairloss I wouldn't be here and just get on with life. I'm not even on any meds at the moment as I'm still comtemplating whether I can be assed with it.
When have I ever said bald isn't an undesirable trait? - Check some of my other posts, regarding this they all say it is. But it's a trait...just one trait.
-Bond in the books is almost 'the perfect man' physically (Not mentally), having no hair would not make him perfect, and would therefore not 'look like what Bond is supposed to' no matter how good looking he was, he simply wouldn't look like Bond. - How hard is that to understand?
Even Daniel Craig got a lot of stick for not looking like Bond. Bond is Bond, Bald is not Bond. Calum Best is a better looking man than at least 4 of the previous Bonds including the current, would he ever be Bond - NO as he is bald and therefore looks nothing like what Bond is supposed to look like. I do not even know how this is debateable so regardless of your reply (If you choose to) I'm not going to bother replying.
Would a blackman /Chinese/Asian be Bond? No
Would a man in a wheelchair be Bond? No
Would a 20-25 year old be Bond? No
A man who wore permanently wore glasses? No
Braces? No
60 year old? No
Long hair? No
Gunger haired? No
Fat? No
Skinny? No
Full head of shaved hair? No
Bond is an image created from the books that only certain actors can fullfill. A bald man or any of the above would not be Bond as they simply wouldn't fit the part.
Anyway UM, if it makes you feel better I'm not going to bother posting in the 'Impact of Hairloss' forum anymore. I only did before as there was some interesting discussion, but I accept as hairloss doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as it does to you and others, so hasn't really had an 'impact' on me, it's not really my place.
