So for the past two weeks ive been noticing hairs shedding way more than normal everywhere. Recently ive also noticed my hair is looking way more see through compared to december so I decided to count hairs in shower again. Im still losing a ton of hair per day. For the past 2 months however, the numbers of hairs were usually around 15-25 hairs and I noticed no major changes to my hair. Right now it is easily double that and my hair looking as bad as it ever did.

Im already on the big 3 but I think im only getting a slow down of my eventual pattern. Hairs that were previous good even seem more miniaturized now. A lot of the shed hairs are also miniaturized.

If your scalp doesn't feel itchy then your probably fine.

scalp is itchy and burns/tingles. All the hairs are of varying diameters with some hairs being very miniaturized

how long have you been on finasteride? sorry if you mentioned that already, I didn't see it skimming through this thread.

Ive been on for 8 months now. Before I got on it in june, i was shedding 500+ hairs per shower. I was shedding the same amount up until september. At the start of august I was forced to shave my head because I was losing it at a really fast rate and was quickly moving to a nw6 in a matter of months. In september, the shedding went down drastically to around 20-30 hairs per shower. My hair cosmetically improved when it grew back to normal the length when I shaved it. It was still thinner than before but looked better than in august. Then now the shedding jumped from 20-30 hairs back up to around 50-70 per shower and my hair is looking worse.

Are they majority small diameter?

They are almost all miniaturized but some are way smaller than others. Once in a while I see a super thick one (probably left over from before i started diffusing).

The only thing I can think of is going to something more intense like dutasteride or ru58841. RU58841 would be able to block other androgens as well as dht.

Interesting, I was under the impression diffusing doesn't leave room for variation in hair follicle size. The Anagen phase is shortening, while the Telogen is becoming longer. Any chance you couldve induced Telogen Effluvium? I blame minoxidil

If I did have telogen effluvium it would have been from june to september when the hairs exceeded 500 per day.

You were contemplating on taking finasteride right? Did you do it?

No, unfortunately I didn't due to fear of the cognitive side effects. I'm currently a student for software development; I tend to overthink. Didn't want my peers to out perform me because something I consume for hair. I do understand completely that sides are of minority. My new course of action is to get a hair transplant with Dr. Diep. Before doing so, I want to test the effectiveness of Dermapen to see if I can maintain growth. My family genetically have frontal loss only, typically that is. Speculation but, I'd rather take the transplant only risk. Hopefully, I can work closely with surgeon and have my hairline fortified in a Norwood 3 pattern even though I'm a NW2.2.(I seen another user post identical game plan, figured it made sense). I do have 3 bottles of finasteride on hand though. I had a recurring order with forhims, and kept wussing out each time it came. Honestly, they way I've been stressing consistently about hair loss, I don't think it would be wise for myself.

Yeah if your family only has frontal loss then that seems to be a reasonable course of action. I am going to stop finasteride and go on ru58841 very soon like in a week or two. Gonna keep it for atleast 5 months and see what happens. Im only looking for maintenance though. Might make a thread on that here.

Yeah im gonna start an RU research sometime this week. Gonna drop finasteride and stick with just RU for 5 months and see what happens. Might make a thread on it.
