Facial Hair and Finasteride

I'm 17 (almost 18), and I was wondering what would happen if I started propecia again.

I can grow some facial hair, but nothing full, and not in all areas. I've been like this, slowly progressing towards thicker areas for the past couple years. While I was on propecia for 3 months, I didn't notice any difference in facial hair growth or rate, but then again, I wasn't really paying close attention to it like I should have.

I know DHT is responsible for development of secondary sex characteristics, but I also know that some men seem to actually grow MORE facial hair while on Propecia.

Does anyone know why this is?

More importantly, does anyone know of any circumstances where facial hair development was actually halted/regressed due to DHT inhibition?

I really want to be able to grow facial hair, and not disrupt this development process. If I lose my hair, it may be my only redeeming quality.
Does anyone have any idea on anything involving facial hair and finasteride?

Thank you.

Well the only answer is no one knows the answer to that for sure but I think most men still get facial hair on propecia at least if they already had before taking propecia. Propecia does not completely stop DHT there is still a decent amount left and I think testosterone plays a pretty big role also maybe even estrogen or a combination of all 3 hormones so its probably not just DHT. I think generally your going to get facial hair even on propecia maybe more slowly

While on Finasteride I had reduced facial and body hair, with increased scalp hair.

While taking Testosterone supplements, I have had the exact opposite. Increased facial and body hair. Decreased scalp hair.

For me (and maybe others) the dividing line is Facial+Body /////// Scalp.

That's rather annoying. I don't want to stunt my facial hair growth. Especially since regardless of finasteride or no finasteride, I'll probably end up bald anyway. I'll need the facial hair.

It's not a significant change. Doubt anyone will notice, maybe except yourself.

If you are using minoxidil at the same time, its less likely to "stunt" your facial hair growth. Minoxidil increases facial hair even when used topically just on your head. I agree with the admin, you might have less facial hair DENSITY on finasteride but I don't think it will "stunt" your hair growth. You don't look like a guy who is going to develop a thick beard anyway. It would have happened by now. I never developed thick facial hair and I never developed full facial hair until like 17 or 18. Trust me shaving is a big pain anyway. If you don't have much body hair, you are less likely to develop a thick beard like the hispanics or arabs do.

Yeah I think its a pretty bet though that androgens meaning DHT + T do control body/facial hair and head hair maybe completely. We dont have anything that really stops that yet but they mentioned CB being used to stop unwanted hair which it would if it stops androgens from affecting the hair but it needs to get T along with DHT
