He's tall, good looking and still has thick density without thinning spots, his vertex and crown are solid, society doesn't see him as bald.

Pretty sure he uses concealer. I've seen pics where his crown looks a bit thin.

If you compare his hairline there to what it was in Casino Royale he has definitely receded a bit. But what resu says is right; as long as you don't have a bald spot, wider society doesn't see NW3 as balding. Its "mature". I'd love to be NW3 again!!

if I had to make a choice, I'd rather have a really thick NW1 frontal hairline with a thinning crown, than a full thick crown with a really high receded frontal hairline.

No way man, a high, slightly receded, hairline doesn't equate with baldness to most girls. They still love guys like Daniel Craig, Joel McHale and Michael Fassbender. However once the crown starts to go, it's game over and they're all 'Ewwww he's old and ugly!'

Once the crown goes, assuming the guy still has a hairline they can just shave it like The dude from prison break, leeis hamilton or zidane and still look hot in almost all women's eyes.

But for the receding hairline guy, if he has a bad head shape or a big forehead then it's bye bye sex appeal and there's nothing he can do to make it look aesthetically less jarring, unlike the crown only guy, who can shave and still look normal.

Yeah but shaving your head is a pretty drastic measure IMO. I'm one of those dudes who just would not suit a shaved head. I don't think many people can pull it off without looking thuggish

If buzzing it down to a 1 or 2 didn't make me look like such a conehead, I would do it tomorrow, couldn't care less what other people thought, unfortunately I just have a sheit head shape, which is a shame because its a very liberating low maintenance style and assuming head shape is reasonable women are going to find it a lot more sexy and confident than some half bald looking guy with creepy looking patchy hair.

Frame is everything though unfortunately so im trapped.

I'd rather look like this:

.....with a noticeable bald spot at the crown (even one that can't be concealed by fibres)

than this:

jude+law+hair.jpg

....with a full thick crown.

sure, a thinning crown is a sign of aging and hardly looks great, but having your frontal hair go just destroys your looks, especially if you weren't that good looking to begin with.

unfortunately I have the worst of both worlds

Yeah fair enough but Jude Law is an extreme case....if it was a choice between Daniel Craig's hair and Steven Gerrard's bald spot, I'd choose Craig's for sure

I look terrible with my balding look i shave it to about a 1 or a 2 and the front is pretty much gone and when you are in the sun its like there is no hair at all so its just the crown bit left (which is also thinning)...but i do not give two ****s i have a big *** beard going on aswell i was walking around with my mates today in a very busy place with my head held high...didnt see anyone looking at me but if they did then so be it let them look be my guest life to short to moan an groan guys i mean moan all you like but not going to grow it back is it?

Facial hair can make all the difference. I already have a thin beard but I'll definitely keep it when my hair goes.

steven gerrard does not have a bald spot, and Jude law is an absolutely extreme example, also that is not a thick crown by any means,

I know that - I was using Gerrard and Law as examples of a really good and really bad frontal hairline, not the status of their crowns.

some women don't like facial hair, and I can't really blame them - I wouldn't want to kiss someone with a beard.

Yeah, I would think that disgusting myself. But, to me, a lot of guys who are clean-shaven and slick bald look rather phallic haha

Shaving is already annoying, imagine shaving both your beard and your scalp. And they say it's "maintenance free", shaved head is possibly the worse look you could have, buzzed is miles easier, even if you're nw4.

There was a media storm about Daniel Craig's hair loss. Some hair transplant surgeon made a comment about the possibility of further recession to Craig's hairline and there was murmurings that the film studio's warned Craig that he could lose his James Bond gig if he lost more hair.

I remember seeing Jude Law a few years ago in the movie Alfie. At the time I thought was about closest to male perfection as you could get. I didn't even notice his hair loss and he would have been about a NW3 then.

The problem is celebrities are almost always the exception to the rule . He remained famous and successful in "seducer" roles BECAUSE he kept his looks. There's a massive observation bias, since actors who lose their looks due to hair loss , well we don't see them. For every Strathom or Bruce Willis there's 2 other actors who lost their careers and we never hear about them.

But even a beautiful face won't save you if you get past Norwood 3. I think that's about the point where the recession changes the frame of your face and unless you have the right type of skull and masculine features it's all over. Hence hair loss is a billion dollar industry and will continue growing as men have more pressures placed on them to meet societies beauty standards.
