I think finasteride is not stopping your hairloss and if I were you I'd switch to dutasderide 0.5mg straightaway.

It's very hard to tell because the lighting is way different from the previous pics and you said your hair is shorter than usual at the moment. However, you do look pretty diffused in those pics. Do you have any baseline pics from when you started finasteride over 2 years ago? That would be the only way to tell if finasteride is doing anything for you. You could also be going through a seasonal shed.

You definitely have great gains. If I were you, I would stick to the topical Finasteride and the solid,
like you've been doing in the past. Your hair density has improved, and quite a lot.

I recently got my haircut and my stylist went a little short. It does give a better example of my hairline/diffuse loss. My hair is dry but obviously messy (from me pulling back my bangs to show my hairline). Thoughts?

Time to add something, and go to Plan C. And do it fast.

Would either consider Apricort (whatevr's thread), or Progesterone. And I would do it
fast if I were you.

Don't go shorter. In fact, grow it longer. It looks really bad shorter, as you can see.

Glad you decided against getting a buzzcut. Because at that point it would be too late.

Yes. This is what I plan to do for a while. I am afraid of losing ground if a quit Finastopic (which is also f*****g expensive). But if eventually it stops working I would switch to dutas with no hesitation, as I suggested for the op.

By the way, my loss pattern is very similar to hims, specially in my pre-finasteride status.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm still trying to get used to having my hair this short. I'm seeing more scalp then I'd like lol. I'm looking into alternative options, because I agree, I don't think finasteride is working.

It really does not look that bad yet. With toppik you can look like a full head.

I figured, since last time I did an update I posted my hair dry, I would post some pics of my hair wet to get an idea on my diffuse loss. I definitely think I'm still diffusing and probably into a high norwood and I don't think I'm maintaining. It scares me a bit because I believe I see the horseshoe starting to emerge.

I am afraid you reached a point of diminishing returns, given how long you have been on medication. Adding dutasteride will help inhibit DHT, but if your trying to chase density, then a transplant is the only way.

"Diminishing returns"? - I was afraid of that. I'm beginning to think my hair is a lost cause. I won't give up the fight, but it's discouraging to say the least. Whenever I take pics or even just look in the mirror when my hair is wet, I see my future. It's frightening. I don't want to be a "bald man" but it looks my body has other plans.

Your hair is literally the same as the wet pictures in August on page 3. It is very diffused, however. I'm sure your hair was worse before treatments, correct?

Supposedly when your hair is wet, that will be your pattern in about 5 years. So, you still have have hair all over but less density.

My hair is worse than yours... and i have the same sort of loss and hairstyle to hide it. Dermmatch is the sh1t. Try that. Then some dry shampoo as a styling product (ITS NOT LIKE SHAMPOO - ITS A STYLING PRODUCT THAT WOMEN HAVE USED FOR YEARS !) dermmatch once dried looks thick, gets rid of the scalp show and the dry shampoo fluffs up your hair. You can even use one with a tint which is like Mane. That combo - derm and dry shampoo - Is amazing + some strong hairspray for good measure. Remember, everyone does stuff to make themselves feel better and look better. Dont beat yourself up about wanting to look better. And i felt weird the first time trying concealers - id try every styling product in the counter but wouldnt "admit" to myself i might need something a bit more apecialised. Havent looked back since.

To put it in perspective. You still look like a full head nw1 almost all of the time except if you make a huge mess out of your hair or if it is dripping wet.

You are also on finasteride for 9 month or so and your picks look pretty much the same from the first posts until today.

I think finasteride is working in maintaining what you have and if literature gives a hint you will keep your hair just like that for another 10-15 years, maybe even longer.

So I don't really see the problem. Well actually I do, because i have the same paranoia like you, but I don't think it's helpful.
