Any preventive measures with finasteride to avoid gyno?

finasteride isn't likely to cause gynecomastia. Placebo got gynecomastia just as much as the people taking finasteride. Gynecomastia actually becomes common as men age. Hoppy beer, excessive alcohol intake, desk job, excessive sitting, gaining weight etc. I would recommend staying healthy. Cardio, weight lifting, a good diet. If you are saving your hair you might as well do the rest of your body as well. Don't worry about supplements and microdosing and all that other crap. Just take .5 to 1.5 mg of finasteride daily and you will be fine.

You can use zinc pills. Zinc supplements. Like zinc citrate, I don't remember the dosage, I think 50mg every other day. It did get the gyno feeling milder.

You also got Gyno from finasteride, Toms?

Incorrect zinc will not help your Gyno, in fact actually there is a good chance itll will make it worse. The reason why you're experiencing gyno is because the excess testosterone that would usually covett into DHT is instead turning into estrogen. Causing a hormonal imbalance giving you lovely moobs.

Toms probably experienced placebo effect of thinking that it got better, no doubt. You best way to stop gyno. Is to stop taking finasteride. Seriously.

let's not forget that the chance of getting gyno from finasteride is almost nill. seriously, 90% or more of people you see saying "omg i got gyno from finasteride" don't really have gyno; they are just fat. "miracle hair loss product" companies love using fears like this to their advantage - think about it, what is stopping them from making an account here, doing a few posts, and then telling everyone about how finasteride ruined their life? anyone can make an account here and post and its free too.

truth of the matter is finasteride is safer than any antibiotic or antidepressant you have ever taken, and if you want to not be bald, then finasteride, min and nizoral are the only thing thats going to help you - otherwise you may as well just bic it. take it form me, i first joined this forum thinking "eh i just need a few months of rogaine and nizoral and im an atheltic guy i can get my hair back np"

Please keep in mind that the people posting about how harmless finasteride is are the ones not currently having issues with the drug.

I will say this,

as a guy that keeps under 10% bodyfat - most of the time under 8% and has lifted for muscle half his life, finasteride was awful.

I took it at the height of being in peak shape. I first noticed tenderness and a small lump in 2007, a month after starting. I got off finasteride but only for a few weeks before I decided I could eventually counter the effects with something anti-estrogen or letrozole.

I just want to say that, long story short, I was on finasteride from about late 2007 to 2011. I stopped and started a few times. I felt it was slowing my hairloss (I have thick hair but receding hairline).
I noticed hairloss early in life when others thought I was crazy - about 2004 or so.

Anyway, my lumps never went away.
I tried letro, nolva, etc. anti-estrogen drugs. The finasteride screwed up my testosterone. My body went from that vascular hard look to becoming kind of flat and smooth.
My diet was the same, training, etc.

I eventually had to have surgery in 2012. I had the lump removed. It cost me $5, 900 with a plastic surgeon. It still isn't perfect and it's a reminder to stay away from finasteride.

I have heard so many horror stories.

If it makes national news regarding sexual dysfunction, it doesn't take a genius to realize that it would link to hormones in the body - hormones like dht, estrogen, etc.

I knew back in 2007, when starting, what my thick head of hair could eventually evolve into. I obsessed about it. I would build my body but I couldn't stop coming to forums like this.

When I quit finasteride, I took rogaine until last year. Although not obsessed with my hair enough to come to forums, It is still on my mind.

I gave up rogaine due to skin effects and it wasn't working that well.

I now have accepted defeat and probably will not have a cure before my hairloss becomes really noticeable.

I have that strong forelock like Jude Law. up until this year, I could get away with a few moments of styling because I still had strong enough hair in the corners to level out my hairline.
After this year, I would say people will eventually realize the balding.

With that said, finasteride/propecia will still never go into my body to try and halt my hairloss.

Dude, you have posted your pics several times and the whole forum agrees that you don't have gyno, you are just fat - and you are messing yourself up even more with the letro.

G.I joe: gyno can be very subjective. I did look at one of your photos and I would say your chest fat is due to a high bmi. Not a chemical imbalance to finasteride that cause glandular tissue growth. The stress from possibly getting gynecomastia and the stress from your hair loss is more likely to have cause gynecomastia then the actual drug itself. This is just my opinion. I took that drug for a long time and had a completely flat chest and bmi of 10 for years on it.

These days I've been seeing gynecomastia in men being a lot more common at my age. I think it's mainly due to very hoppy beers. the hops in beer is like taking an estrogen pill. Add that with the calories and having a lazy life style and wallah. You got some fat in the chest. And no it's not always like the surgeons say. If it's pseudo gyno getting in shape can get rid of the excess fat. But if it's glandular. You need surgery to get rid of it. You might have glandular tissue. You might not. But I doubt finasteride caused it. And if it did. You are one of the 1 percent that got gyne while taking finasteride. Also you were one of the 1 percent that go gynecomastia taking a placebo...

Lol how are you sitting there telling me the subconscious worry of getting gynecomastia caused gyno instead of the drug proven to cause gyno... how brainwashed are you guys... finasteride is an awesome drug if u don't get sides... If I didn't have gyno I would've kept Taking it.. but i did get gyno 1 month in.. got lumps and they kept growing up until I stopped at 3 months... I then waited a week and felt no change.. just alot less irritation.. i then hopped on letro which SHRUNK my nodules about 90% to the point where all it feels like is a thick nerve... how could I decrease the size of a lump I didn't have with a drug proven to decrease early onset of gyno... u guys are fkn desperate, you can't even come to terms with a drug causing gyno in a small minority of people who take it...and I know this isn't cause it runs in my family because my brother who takes finasteride 6+years has no.signs of gyno...

Yes I am fat but my nipples never were a problem.. and I didn't even care if finasteride would've just made them swell... it's when I got the lump when it really bothered me cause I knew if I lost weight it would still be prominent

I didn't tell you the your subconscious caused gyno. I'm saying stress can cause it because stress lowers testosterone and increases estrogen in men. Also, it is not proven that finasteride can cause gyno. It's only a theory and a cya warning on the drug label.

For whoever was arguing with me that they claim finasteride is proved to cause gynecomastia. Show me your proof? Here is mine. In the main FDA study, there was no more incidence of gynecomastia when compared to the placebo. In the main japanese study there was also no more gynecomastia reports when compared to the placebo.

Go to page 9 of this site and read for yourself. It has not been proven. It is only a theory. The company puts this as a warning label because of this theory and to cover there *** if something happens. Maybe some men do get gynecomastia while taking finasteride. Maybe it is even caused by finasteride. That was why they put the warning on there. Was it proven in any of the main studies. No not really. In fact I think most people that got gynecomastia while taking it and reported it are either old men thAt otherwise would have got it. Are lazy hoppy beer drinkers. Hypochondriac propeciahelpers. Etc. the face is when you compare the results of
gynecomastia to the placebos. The incidence is the same! That should tell you that a. Men just get gynecomastia. It's more common to get as we age then you think. And b. the drug in reality doesn't cause gynecomastia at any higher rate then not taking the drug.

IMHO finasteride doesn't cause any more gynecomastia than the placebo does. This is based on actual studies. Good luck to you either way.

It does increase your risk slightly but it's very rare overall for it to happen. The mechanism makes sense from a medical point of view. DHT is an anti estrogen, Test isn't. Not to mention there are documented cases of people just on finasteride who develop gynae, then after quitting the drug, the gynae lessens significantly. That's good enough cause and effect all round.

The second patient is a 65-year-old healthy male with androgenetic alopecia who developed unilateral left gynecomastia after two months of treatment. Stopping the treatment led to major improvement within two months, but at follow-up six years after this treatment, there is still slight residual swelling.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2929552/

You're right that in some studies the placebo group developed Gynae and in the finasteride group they didn't, I think one person out of 100 odd in the trial did. Again that means nothing. Gynae can be caused by many things, not only finasteride. So it's perfectly reasonable for 1 person to get it in the placebo group and 0 in the finasteride group. It's very rare for finasteride to do it.

i honestly hope that once i lose weight, i wont get nipple irritation along with the lumps.. i initially thought me always touching around my nipples caused the gyno, but now i always feel around amazed at the size reduction, and no irritation... i believe gyno is triggered on finasteride with other health aspects about individual users.. ive been overweight my whole life i managed to drop down to 195 last summer but now im back at 225.. before all that i was 300 pounds!! but once i was steadily taking finasteride my nips were growing.. not only the nips but i was developping more of a round shape to my nipples, then when the lumps came i knew i had 2 decisions, ride it out or discontinue use... unfortunately i had to discontinue

Didn't Fredthebelgian claim you don't have gynecomastia from his observance? He would know more than anyone. He spent a great deal of time on gynecomastia.org. Speaking of Fred. He got his gyne from an antidepressant. Not finasteride. Also. Gynecomastia.org does claim finasteride and dutasteride to be causes of gynecomastia. But there just doesn't appear to be a strong correlation either way. I think as long as your body is producing more testosterone in relativity to estrogen you are fine. In finasterides case it increases your testosterone by 20 percent and increases estradiol, not estrogen by about 10 percent. Logically you are still producing more t then e and so you are safe from gyne. For most people anyway.

dude are you seriously so ****en retarded!!! fred got bad gyno.. i didnt say my gyno was bad, but i got lumps.. me, myself as a person got lumps that i FELT, that i never had before.. you're gonna take someone online opinion over someone whos experiencing it.. i have no reason to preach about this, i dont get anything out of it, so idk why you just cant accept the fact that it could sometimes cause gyno in some people.. ill even go as far to say as it prob wont happen to you if you start finasteride, but it COULD happen!!

btw ive said this before.. i went to a doctor and got DIAGNOSED with gyno...
