This is my first ever post on hair loss forums. I've been reading stuff here and there, on and off since 2012 and I finally took the opportunity to activate my account, and only because of this thread. From what I've learned about regenerative medicine and development of medicines, I think that different lotions and vitamins will never give people with a serious problem the effect they need. Hair replication is the way to go. But this is me stating the obvious.
I do think that several users here are a bit too pessimistic about potential treatment outcomes, incl. for Replicel. If Replicel comes out to be effective in even 50% of subjects, then that is a major breakthrough. We can't expect treatments to be 100% effective for the whole population. This goes for every treatment. Be it lymphomas, thyroid treatments or male pattern baldness. Personally my heart goes out to every balding guy. If someone can be cured, or which is even more likely - hair density increased by say 20% after a FUE with partial response to treatment, I'd say go for the treatment, hoping Replicel commercialises it anyway. I simply cross fingers that Replicel wouldn't cancel their procedure because it's only partial.
Price wise - 900USD is not as low-balled as you think. I hope I understand what you meant correct (as a European
). Probably it's going to be a bit more expensive, but they are clearly targeting a larger audience. A lower price means more customers and if they manage to tap into the millions, instead of thousands, the company will have more financial perspective. This is a strong sign for investors. You can tell the mindset of investor community from Replicel stock price. I see that around publishing the 2017 prospects presentation, the stock has bumped up from 0.8 to 1.8. Clearly things are looking up right now. I am a small time investor with some considerable successes in biomedicine in recent year (portfolio up with NANO.OL and PCIB.OL ca 190% in past 4 months). After reading through the 2017 prospects, It seems that the next 1.5 years will be very interesting for Replicel treatment wise as well as financially. As a matter a fact, Some of the most valuable information can be found through investor discussions. It would be interesting to find out whether there are investor forums discussing this company. It might be possible to find some valuable insight / additional information there. This console the souls of some of the participants in this discussion.
I say give Replicel some time, meanwhile do some research. See what people holding the money think. I know that many here have read themselves up on the all sorts of things on hairloss, but it's inevitable that at some point your perspective gets skewed. Financial world thinking is something totally different (in a good way) and it would be a good refresh to these forums. Different approach on success probability assessment. In addition, information about regulatory approval and people with actual experience in biotech investment in all areas of the world, sharing their knowledge on legal matters concerning this kind of company. Personally I think that the safety results will be a pivotal point in the process of producing this treatment and I would say if you have faith in it, why not even buy Replicel stock. Put 1000$ in and maybe you make back 20x the money. Save your own hair and 10 others for charity.
In Norway we call it a "studentpost".
