So I don’t do much to deal with my hair, just let it do it’s thing. Can’t really tell tho if my hairline is receding badly or not, or if I have a maturing hairline, or just a big forehead? If you do think I’m receding what Norwood do you think I am? I am 23 almost 24 now and that’s my current hair in the first couple of pictures. The last 3 are me when I was 15-16, at most 17 years old. Be cool if you could comment, whether it’s good or bad. Also if so what treatments are best? Thanks! Want some unbiased opinions!

Your temple points above your ears look weak and will go in the future. That can be a sign you could be heading to 6/7 Norwood

Hopefully there will be a cure by then, haha! Currently what norwood do you think I am? I feel like I have always had a high hairline since I was little.

Norwood 1.5 - Norwood 2. Your hairline is wide and thick but your temples recede back a fair bit.

Looking at it now I do think this is a cause to worry, your temples are pretty much gone and your hairline is going back too. How is your family history for hair loss?

It’s really not bad. My moms dad is 70 full head of hair. My dads dad is kinda balding around the same age. Did you look at the top pics above from like 7 years ago? I know I’m receding slowly but I feel like my hairline has always been high. Weird, I hope I’m okay. You think I should just buzz it? Idk what to do, you really think it’s that bad?

Or what’s the deal with finestride and dutasteride, what’s a proper dosage? And do you think I need it? Scared of the side affects.

finasteride and dutasteride are the two of the most famous hair loss drugs. A proper dosage for finasteride is 1mg and for dutasteride it is 0.5mg. Nobody really needs these drugs but I do think your hair will continue to get worse without one or the other.

Yeah but what about the side affects? And which one would you recommend out of the 2? Jeez I didn’t think my hair was that noticeable and bad?

Its really not that bad, but it is beyond what most would consider a mature hairline. I would start with finasteride, it has a lesser chance of side effects.

Are you on finestride? If so for how long and have you had good results or any side affects? I guess Ill give it a shot, If I get any side affects and just stop it isn't gonna make my hair recede even faster will it? And will they side effects be permanent? Sorry for all the questions andy, just really curious and it seems like you know your stuff!

I've been on finasteride 2 years next month. It didn't help me personally but it does help a lot of people. I am on additional treatments which have had mixed results. finasteride can in some cases make things worse ( although some here will deny that ) as it negatively affected my hair. I don't think the side effects are permenant, in very rare cases people have reported long-term persistent side effects after stopping the drug but it could just all be in their heads. Using finasteride for a few weeks to test the waters won't do you any harm.
