20m How's It Looking? Wondering How Far Along I Am

Pretty sure I'm a little bit along the baldness train already, and I'm wondering if I should start finasteride. My mom's side has strong male pattern baldness (both her brother and dad are completely hairless). How bad do you guys think it is, let me know if you need better pictures/video. I'm terrified of the side effects of finasteride, particularly the one that entails losing your sex drive and not being able to get it back even after you stop it.

Norwood 1.5 you still got a great head of hair. Don't worry about the finasteride sides, decreased sex drive is a common side effect, I'm on the stuff along with minoxidil and topical estrogen and my sex drive has hit rock bottom, doesn't bother me at all. There are worse things... Like going bald for example.

No sarcasm. I got mild decrease in sex drive from finasteride but the estrogen has really tanked it, which for me personally is ideal. Still shedding though

You still are a NW1. I honestly would not start on any treatments yet. Your density is incredible. If we all had your density and hair, this place would not exist unless you have BDD.

Thats good to hear! I've been back on it a little over a month and my shed has maybe decreased slightly, but I'm not sure.. What norwood are you?

Around 3.5, I'm surprised it's slowing my shedding because I consider myself to be a pretty aggressive case, I'm also only 20

I'm also only taking 0.25mg a day, might bump it up to 0.5mg

For some reason the ones with aggressive hair loss seem to benefit the most. My recession was slow as f*** for years and finasteride ( or so I thought ) didn't help slow or stop it. I think you will get decent results, will definitely set you up for a future transplant to recover a full head of hair. I would increase it to at least 0.5mg. The difference isn't much but it still better than 0.25!

Yep a future transplant is the plan! Right now I'm considered too young to be able to transplant on, Tbh thank God I finally jumped on finasteride, I kept getting worried about the sides for like 2 years, could have saved a lot of hair :/

We can't change the past unfortunately, but at least now you have a decent chance at recovery! finasteride isn't scary in comparison to the other options
