Side hair loss can just be normal male pattern baldness, often a sign that the eventual Norwood level will be high, I think.

I was on finasteride from September 2007 until March 2008. I still haven't recovered my pre-finasteride libido and penis sensitivity. Side effects showed up on day 2 in my case. I think I might well have recovered if I had quit earlier.

I don't think Rogaine is much good as a stand-alone treatment. It doesn't affect the male pattern baldness process. The thick, wavy hair could be an advantage if you ever want to go the hair transplant route. Don't do that before hair loss is more stabilized, though. I think I have you beat in ignorance/denial...

I used to think that it was, but reading about hair transplants here made me more skeptical to unnecessary surgery in general. Do LASIK/LASEK/PRK etc. have a similar dark side? Is there a good way to check a particular clinic's reputation?

How would I do such a test? Keep in mind the sexual side effects never disappeared, even though I stopped taking finasteride 8 months ago.

This is true in most, but not all cases.

Side effects are for forever for some guys, which should be taken into the equation, even if it's a small minority.
