If I decide to stop taking finasteride should I quit cold turkey or taper off?

spironolactone and I've been using nizoral and zinc shampoo a few times a week for around 5 years now. I've had no luck getting a doctor to prescribe me finasteride in all that time, which is why I started spironolactone as I can get it without a prescription.

I've been using topical spironolactone since September and haven't noticed anything yet, I'm still shedding :(

It's been around a month and a half since I started using minoxidil once a day. I've noticed that my face is a little puffy in the mornings, joint pain, jaw cracking, and my chest feels tight. Should I stop using it?

I would prefer using finasteride but I am unable to get a prescription for it so my only option is minoxidil. Is there anything I should be worried about with minoxidil?
