I think this is androgen related but not the typical hair loss. Many guys have this, it is kind of "the beard growing up", changing the structure of the hairs on the sides more to the coarse, sparser, just like beard or body hair. Maybe Finasteride helps.

Used sandalore for about a year, doesn't made any difference and smells disgusting at high concentrations. I think this is a dead end.

I think topical finasteride is like an equation with many unknowns. We dont‘t really know how much is absorped, we dont know if it works at all topical.

My two cents on this: I think many men don't really "lose" hair on their sides, it's more becoming a "structure" like beard hair, which is naturally thinner. The lose doesn't resemble that on top of the head. Even people with no apparent loss on top often have thinner sides.
