Wait so did you have male pattern baldness? I don't want to start finasteride buT my temples do look a bit receded. And did you actually need finasteride ? And how does my hair look to you ? Thanks
Yes, but a very minor case so I decided to take finasteride because I have relatives who have male pattern baldness. I already said above what I thought about your hair. When mine was like yours, I started finasteride. Depends on your family history. If you have no history of male pattern baldness on both sides of your family then you have a lower risk than I do. If you feel your hair has stayed the same for the past few years then just wait. Better yet, go to a hair transplant doctor and have him help you decide what path you need to take.

My dad is NW7 so I am worried yeah. You didn't say what you thought about it ? Just said it was like yours before finasteride .. On that note is your hair better now ? And I'm only 19 btw. Is a hair transplant doctor better option than a derm? Also I've only been monitoring 2 months and dosent look much different but I'll post pics for you to judge later. Thanks

My dad is a NW7 too. Your hair looks good for now. Yes, I feel a hair transplant doctor that is reputable would be the best choice to evaluate your hair as long as they have tools that do it. I don't think dermatologists are as educated about hair loss like a hair transplant doctor. I have taken finasteride for over ten years and it did not stop me from getting worse but I only got slightly worse. I am more of a diffuse thinner too. However, I am sure I am closer to your dad's age if you are 19 so I got really lucky because my situation was like yours at 39.

oh right, I hope I am still a NW1 and this is slight maturation. That's barely even hairloss then if you had my hairline at 39 considering mine is still good (for now). So you were literally a NW0 for your entire 20's?

There is no such thing as NW0. Yes, I was a NW1 for most of my life so far but it slowly diffused over the years so I dodged the bullet from my dad who was a NW3 at your age.

ah right, where would you put me on Norwood scale now? I have no thinning on crown (hair still v thick), literally the hairline corners are my only concern.

You are a NW1 but your whole hairline is starting to retract back like mine did. How many fingers can you place from the top of your eyebrows to where your hairline starts. I used to be 3 fingers, now I am 4. Don't cheat and wrinkle your brow. If I do that I am 3 fingers. According to what k9 just posted my hairline is about where it should be.

I can fit exactly 4 fingers. Do you not reckon this is not a ''mature hairline'' then? I agree with you but where can you specifically see the recession? its more about the corners anyway tbh my frontal hairline hasn't really changed at all from what i can see. Do you reckon i could lose more hair if i hop on finasteride? dont really want the effacy of finasteride to run out when im like mid 20's, considering im only 19 especially if i got a hair transplant in 30's.

My advice is to have this conversation with a professional who is reputable and does hair transplant surgery. I can't predict your future but I can tell you are very concerned about your looks. And if you obsess about it, it eventually can lead to a form of OCD called BDD.

Problem with that is I have no money at the moment (student), and not sure if that's practical in UK. Can you just go to a hair transplant professional to see their opinion on it? And cost? Im pretty sure to get miniaturisation mapped out its only in very specific surgeries :(. I think im already obsessed tbh, and don't ever want to get to the stage where I delude myself its "all about confidence", and I can be happy with heavy recession. Looks are everything unfortunately.

hey doctor , so that means you are still a Norwood 1 after 20 years of propecia ?
I have started propecia at 21 with the same hairline as jms97 and i am worse than baseline now .
Do you think propecia can prevent a Norwood 3? Are you still using rogaine foam ? thx man

Ok, I see you have already been influence by social media. My suggestion is to contact Spex who is in the UK by email. He will be the best person to help you. Go to Spexhair.com and contact him. He will definitely help you and he is a great guy. You can send him photos and ask for his opinion. I would trust him. I am sure he can put you in touch with a hair transplant doctor in the UK who can give you a free consultation.

Been on Propecia for 11 years but I am not a NW1 anymore. I am diffuse all over but then again I am no "spring chicken". These treatments did not help me too much so I was not a great responder. Everyone responds different and most young people respond the best.
