Wondering If It’s Time To Start Minoxidil

Just looks like a guy with light, fine hair that clumps together when greasy xD... Even if you are thinning, which I doubt, there's definitely nothing 'extreme' like you say
Thanks brotha, my hair has definitely gotten thinner these past few months. I 100% see more scalp after getting out of the shower and my hair feels a lot lighter so I can be objective about that. A year ago I used to have some of the densest hair you can imagine so it is quite a decrease.

Son of a b**ch, I lost a few hairs in the past couple of minutes. One just fell on my face.

I think you should stick to finasteride for at least a year tbh... minoxidil is annoying as hell esp. if you have long hair. this comes from a 1 year old user btw

Dude, you’re exaggerating, your hair is not bad at all. No one would think you’re balding from these pictures.

Just took my hat off from sweating all day but here.

Second pic is after taking my hat off about a month or two ago

Your hair looks good dude.

Don’t use rogaine, and if you do use the liquid.

I spend like 45 min a day putting the foam on and I hate it

Thanks man, I’m surprised I’m getting compliments on my hair tbh...

If I do start minoxidil I’ll dsfinitely be using the liquid. My hair’s too long for the foam.

Take comfort in the fact that rogaine and dermarolling grow hair like crazy...

Come one year you aren’t happy with your hair then you can easily thicken it up. No need to worry about it now

Roughly how old RU again? Looks like you could be a "slow thinner" and take this battle into the next decade...

Your hair is VERY similar to mine at around 22( in fact yours probably looks better), i got on finasteride at 23 and been on it now for 12 years. Tried Minoxidil for 1 month but it made my face itch like a motherfucker so never touched it again.
I was gutted but also now realise that i would never have been able to apply it every day without fail.

I would advise to judge the results of finasteride after 9-12 months, i was ready to drop it after 6 months as i seemed to be dropping below baseline but have had great results after 12 years.

Stick with it if you can for at least a year. If it works, its worth it mate.

I’m 22 years old. How is this slow thinning through? This happened within the last few months.

I will stick with it. Did you end up going above baseline at all or did you stick around the same for a while?

I’m really surprised you guys aren’t telling me how fucked I am. This happened so quick so I became extremely depressed about it and was a hat prisoner for a while. I’ve been putting on concealer and going about my
day now as I haven’t been getting any comments about my hair loss (I thought everyone was being polite).

But you guys are really giving me a dose of reality. I’ve been SERIOUSLY considering hair systems lately but I guess I should hold off.

Here are some wet hair pics that are just brutal for me to see in the mirror. And a few with concealer. I’m not selling anything but I hope the concealer pics convince some of you guys to try them out. Especially if you’re becoming a hat prisoner.

I think I may wait with the minoxidil to see if my shedding slows down a bit more and hopefully I get some regrowth.

I did not grow any hair on my temples , these have slowly receded back over the years. Did lots for my crown though, its gotten a bit thin at the back now but nothing that looks out of place on a 35 year old.
Im NW3 with 2 brothers ( both younger ) who are both NW6 now,( no treatment, both married with kids ect).

I am going to be of the opinion that you should start minoxidil now

Based on these photos, your hair is definitely thinning (assuming like you said that your hair is not naturally fine, which you stated when you said it used to be a lot thicker). That said I think finasteride has significantly slowed down/stopped your rate of thinning from the evidence that you noted significantly less shedding in the shower now

If you start minoxidil now, you might be able to see a significant bump in volume over the next ~4-6 months.

You will most likely experience a shed in the first 4 weeks, but if you ride it out, by the time winter is over, I think you will be happy in your decision to start minoxidil now
